These links are so shit man, we clearly aren't going to continue buying players once their price has been inflated by proving themselves in the Premier. It would be a nice idea if we had an unlimited pot of money, but we don't.

AyeDubbleYoo Posted Tuesday at 15:02 Share Posted Tuesday at 15:02 There’s no point in buying Mbuemo now if we have to sell Bruno or Isak in the summer.
Keegans Export Posted Tuesday at 15:07 Share Posted Tuesday at 15:07 In isolation, Mbeumo = yes please. The problem is that if a "big money signing" means we're going to have to shift someone before 30th June again we're leaving ourselves open to having the piss taken out of us. I've made peace with the fact that at least one of the big guns is going to have to be moved on so we can refresh the squad ahead of 2025/26, but I at least want to be able to sell on our terms, rather than accepting a miserly bid ahead of an artificial (PSR) deadline. This is where a Sporting Director needs to take the lead a bit. Of course Howe is going to want tried and tested, proven players because his job is on the line. I imagine the mindset is "Let's finish as high as we can this season and we'll work out what to do in the summer if/when we get there", basically exactly what happened leading up to 30th June this year. Aiston Posted Tuesday at 15:08 Share Posted Tuesday at 15:08 Mbeumo will cost a good £70m+ then.
Nine Posted Tuesday at 15:14 Share Posted Tuesday at 15:14 Unfortunately that ship has sailed, he’d simply cost to much now. Would be a near perfect signing profile wise though.
KetsbaiaIsBald Posted Tuesday at 15:21 Share Posted Tuesday at 15:21 It's just fucking boring now. This will be the third transfer window where we can't do anything significant. Even if we do we will be screwed in the summer. It's starting to feel like Everton after they went on their spending spree and were fucked for years after. The only difference with us is we appear to have some quality assets in Gordon, Bruno, Isak, Botman, maybe Tonali. To add to that we're not maximising our incoming revenue. I did see this But I think £70m is probably more accurate given it would be winter and he'll have 1.5 years left on his contract still in Jan. We really should have moved on him in summer ffs Edited Tuesday at 15:23 by Bunk Moreland
vexred Posted Tuesday at 15:25 Share Posted Tuesday at 15:25 There are better options than Mbuemo with our limited budget. Diallo at Man Utd and Conceicao at Porto are both out of contract at the end of the season.

Kimbo Posted Tuesday at 15:35 Share Posted Tuesday at 15:35 I never thought I’d be opposed to exciting big money signings, but we need to focus the resources we’re allowed to spend on players that can be the next Mbeumo. We have so many positions that need refreshing, we bargains.
AyeDubbleYoo Posted Tuesday at 15:37 Share Posted Tuesday at 15:37 If we buy someone for that money it's because we think we can afford it. Like I keep saying, if we buy a player now and sell a big player in the summer, I don't see what has improved. FWIW I can't see us buying Mbeumo now. joeyt Posted Tuesday at 16:06 Share Posted Tuesday at 16:06 I think there's a dearth of right wing options currently for us I got scoffed by a few for suggesting Mbeumo last season but there's very few obvious options out there for us. Many wanted us to sign Chiesa but I don't remember us genuinely being linked with him. Even in the Championship I don't think there's standout right wingers. The lad at Norwich Sainz looks fun but he's a left winger. Gnonto again is best on the left
Scoot Posted Tuesday at 16:08 Share Posted Tuesday at 16:08 2 hours ago, Fak said: Need to sell so we can buy him? Surely we can attract a bid for Murphy or Miggy? These are the types of players we need rid of so we can improve the squad without going over the PSR limit. If Eddie is wanting to keep them then he needs told in my opinion. They're not good enough.
