If your mams say no, then we get on with it, Howe will have to do the same and start bringing on the youngsters, spuds brought 3 on the other day and they did well, Howe can't continually say, they're not ready.

As far as it's a bit harsh comparing our youth involvement with Spurs, or Liverpool, Citeh and Man U for that matter, you have to hope some of these younguns we've bought over the last 2 years can show a bit.

The club's mentioned have had decades over us but we need some successes. Even if it's to, ultimately, flog thrm 😂

Feels like a lot of people are just living in a state of denial about how the PSR situation is unfolding. It's definitely frustrating and it's completely anti-competitive but the irritation has to remain with the Premier League for this asinine set of rules designed to keep the top teams at the top. Throw all the vitriol their way, they deserve all of it.

The truth is that there doesn't really exist a viable incoming transfer that can be done within our severely restricted set of circumstances. I can only assume Howe will have known all of that and will have to accept it in the short term. If not, there is a bigger communication issue than we know. The only way forward is to continue making incremental progress in squad building until we are able to have a major increase in revenues - new stadium, perhaps - or until there are needed changes in PSR. I hope it's the latter but it's probably going to be the former.

We can complain all we want but the reality is what it is.

I doubt we’ll ever know from Howe himself but it would be interesting to know what he was told in the summer regarding this window.

I’m fairly sure Howe has a very good understanding of our PSR situation

The only way Eddie should have a real problem with what we've done this month is if the internal expectations of him do not align with our approach and the realities of our situation. If this is a necessary and/or strategic reset of our finances then he also can't be judged too harshly if we fail to qualify for the CL or win a trophy. There's no reason to think that is happening.

“Eddie Howe confirmed this morning that Newcastle had done all the preparation to sign Abdukhodir Khusanov this month but were simply unable to move because of PSR situation”

Things like this don’t help.

I suspect Eddie would have done things differently a couple of summers back if he’d been given the full picture re PSR.

Last summer losing Anderson in particular will have been painful for all concerned, lessons have been learned and I’m confident under Mitchell where in good hands.

We are almost certainly not significantly restricted by PSR this window, I just think the right players at the right price haven't been avalible and we're setting ourselves up for a squad refresh in the summer.

I think that's fair but it's a distinction without a difference. We're only capable of truly improving our squad by signing players of a pretty high level, and they're always going to be unavailable or too expensive for our lack of "headroom" in January imo.

I just don't understand why act like teachers pet and stick to these "rules" or at least go looking to bend them ala Chelsea. What's the point of being clean in a world where everyone else is dirty.

There’s a difference between ignoring the rules and finding legitimate ways round them though, which is what Chelsea have done.

And tbf, the whole signing of the Greek keeper was a massive dodge round the rules by us.

If Chelsea selling a hotel they already own to themselves is legitimate then something is seriously wrong

I'm not mad that we've not spent on a perm this January, it's more irksome for me that we've not looked to secure any loans.

We saw with Targett the benefit in doing it, but we're asking the same group of players to give it all again with another promise that next time it'll be better.
