NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

Remember not too long ago when a lengthy Wilson injury probably meant we’d be in a relegation battle? I get that football moves fast and he’s not really been much use for over a year now but the disrespect is crazy.

The guy’s our 3rd highest PL goal-scorer and bagged more goals for us than Cole and Beardsley, man.

How is it disrespectful? We're trying to push on and make that step to compete for the title. We can't carry passengers no matter what they might have done in the past.

Does anybody have a real idea of how much money (if any) we can spend in the summer without selling a superstar?

We're bloody minted and can't spend shit. I hate PSR.

agreed. that has been an issue with this club for far too long, we hold on to players way longer than we should. other clubs don't.   wilson has been great for the club and has dug us out of a lot of tough places, but hes getting on and offers nothing anymore. people wont ever forget what he has done in the past. but the concern is what he offers now.  if he stays on another year or two and declines even more, it would tarnish his stay here and people will only remember the worst bits unfortunately.  its best for him and the club to move on and bring in someone younger who can offer more now.

So based on what's stated above re holding onto players far too long and being ruthless , when do we decide to move on those such as Joe, Pope, Schar (poss already too late) , Trips ( again too late) another season or 2 it'll be ta ta Bruno, poss Isak some big decisions coming up for a wanna be ruthless club.

His wages and squad place also limit our ability to bring in someone who can actually benefit the team. Great club servant, and that should never be forgotten, but there's no room in football for sentimentality at the cost of progress

Delap - £30m

Huijsen - £50m

Dibling - £40m

Trafford - £30m

Not sure if you could get the bottom two at those process but for £150m to get four young players who would improve us instantly and (should) continue to improve would be a great window. That's if we have £150m to spend if we get top 5.

We need less 'prospects' and more established players to certify our spot and push on.

Cunha, Mbuemo, Kudus or similar

I'd like to think there's a good chance someone like Delap sees that moving to Man United has a huge number of drawbacks. Yes he'd be second fiddle to Isak, but at a far healthier club, and he'd play a crap ton of games with Europe etc.

He's also one Isak injury or an Isak sale (not impossible if Real or someone come in with 150m plus) from being our permanent lead striker.

Also surely we won't be daft enough to hang on to Wilson. It's high time we made some intelligent and bold decisions with regards to moving players on.

I'm excited but nervous about the summer. Here's hoping it's a good one.

Idealistic, if it were between us or Man U he goes to the latter purely from the playing time on offer.

Going from being relegated to be Man U's starting 9 (regardless of how mudded they are) would be a far more appealing prospect.

@SkeletorI agree with the overall point tbf but you know, thank him for his service and wish him well. He’s always been a model pro when fit and by all accounts is a leading voice in the changing room.

Maybe it’s because I’ve always really liked him or maybe I’m just being a fanny.

That's a fair point. With us seemingly looking at Europa League minimum, Delap should get plenty of minutes.

Bear in mind Isak starts with Gyokeres when playing for Sweden - so it’s not as if we can’t play both time to time

when they start to be carried / not offering anything.

those players arent on that list, yet. but at some point they will be either due to age or simply declining.  thats how clubs at the top should and do work.

the likes of wilson, longstaff, hayden, lascelles, targett, willock (if injuries dont improve) etc are the first that should be cleared out and replaced, the rest as and when they the time comes, rather than holding on to them longer. the club have to start being a bit more ruthless with it.

Yes they're excellent prospects but they're all good players now, especially in Huijsen's case.

Arguably none of them get into our first XI, outside maybe Huijsen.

We need guys who will do so without a doubt.

£150m and none of these even start for us is pretty nuts. Goes to show how expensive building a team really costs

Because our starting eleven is shit, right?

Quite the opposite, it's pretty decent and it'll take more than a bunch of youngsters with 'potential' to make a meaningful impact.

I think Trafford could well start, but I take your point.

It just takes a year or so with Eddie though. Tino and Hall didn’t start for us despite being in this price bracket, and look at them now.

Those 4 are exactly as you're describing though - more than just youngsters with potential.

No they're not, they are exactly as described - youngsters with potential.

Mbuemo/Cunha /Kudus are proven, established and certified.

In comparison, Dibling/Delap et al could be studs in a year or two or he could go the way of Jordan Ibe, Ravel Morrison, Andy Carroll and many many more of that ilk.
