He isnt someone who can organise, direct, bollock others like for example Tripper does.

Feel like Trippier is a better on field captain than Bruno though but thats just me.

It's impossible for anyone outside the team to say someone isn't a good captain ffs.

Cultural leader, what a load of rubbish man. He is no way a leader on the pitch like, hes actually quite a poor on field captain.

Newcastle need numbers and, as Howe pointed out, they are yet to replace Elliot Anderson, Miguel Almiron or Lloyd Kelly. They want players for each of those positions plus a couple of marquee signings (a centre-back and right-sided forward) to take them to the next level.

Your user name suits you, as that post deserves to be blown to smithereens.

It's a no-brainer, we gotta be in on that deal. His goals and assists the last two seasons have been crazy! Isak, Gordon, Barnes, Mbeumo, Murphy – that's an insane front line!

And he can cover for Isak!

Still don't think there's much value in Mbeumo. His non-penalty xG+xA per 90 is only 0.51 and this was the first season he outscored his xG and did it significantly (19 goals from ~13xG). Wissa (0.73) and even Schade (0.52) were ahead of him from Brentford.

Some other players from the league that people probably wouldn't be that excited if we signed them (all numbers from Understat so not the best data but still):

Ouattara 0.76

Sarr 0.74

Havertz 0.71

Jackson 0.68

Madueke 0.66

Son 0.65

Beto 0.65

Traore 0.64

Savio 0.61

Jimenez 0.59

Brennan Johnson 0.59

Rashford 0.56

Garnacho 0.53

Ours:

Isak 0.81

Barnes 0.65

Murphy 0.60

Gordon 0.46

Willock 0.46 but on low minutes

I'm not saying he would be a bad signing and him being a possible backup for Isak too would be a positive but I firmly believe we could find someone better and younger for +£60m.

Can’t decide on Mbuemo myself not many players bag the goals from wide right like he has, also think he works his bollocks off which makes him a great fit in many ways.

Not sure he’s the best all round footballer though and 60 million is a hefty fee, 26 in August so would get 4 good years out of him possibly without any re-sale value.

I’d be tempted to shop abroad if we could get Delap for 30 million and try to spread the budget to also bring in a top midfielder in as well.

Like? For an example? Who you have in mind?

On Mbeumo you're missing a huge stat about him!

He's got 69 goals and assists in 135 Premier League games for Brentford. That's almost a goal or assist every two games – crazy consistency! That's the most important stat, really. Even before this season, his numbers were awesome, and he's only getting better. With our team creating more chances, he'll be even better (just look at Murphy).

Imagine him in front of our midfield, feeding Isak, with Gordon/Barnes on the other wing.

Come on, mate, this is a no-brainer! You won't find another Premier League-proven 26-year-old with better stats who'd be so keen to join us.

You get someone from the continent and you taking a risk. We might not be able to afford him etc, fair play but this guy is the real deal.

Again... 69 goals or assists in 135 Premier League games.

No-brainer

Boom.

I've said before, I think the best way to see Bruno as captain is as being our spirit animal. He's not a Trippier or Speed (who wasn't actually captain but many of the players largely felt he was) but he's something of his own. He shows what total commitment, ambition, competitiveness and willingness to take responsibility under pressure looks like, none of which should ever be sniffed at.

Our leadership collective is doing the business anyhow. We're lucky/have been very skillful in collecting such a decent, self supporting bunch of characters.
