Akliouche has that in his locker and is going straight to the top imo. Perfect Howe player as well with his work rate and physical attributes.

I’d be shocked if PSG don’t spend big on him.

Here's a question for everyone. Who would they people take the following window.

In.

Delap

Mbuemo

Guehi

Walker peters

Out

Longstaff

Wilson

Tripz

I’d be tempted to try and keep trippier for his experience, even when he’s warming up he’s coaching from the sidelines.

I can pretty certainly say that we will not be buying in EPL much. Mitchell really has different kind of style, and we need so many players.

Howe pretty much confirmed we would not be buying established players. Can imagine Mbeumo alike would fall into that category? It’s why I really think Delap is very high on our list, see reference to acting quickly.

Walker peters on free and drop for £30m would be an incredible start. Could argue Trafford for £20m so first 3 for £50m. That would be a great start, also keep tripps so that’s our full backs sorted with a couple being able to cover defence if needed.

He said world class TBF, but I see what you’re saying.

"Established players" certainly doesn't mean they have to be from EPL. Isak and Tonali were established players for example.

edit. We have pretty much 2-3 players to sell that actually someone will pay for (Willock, Longstaff and maybe Targett)
But we already badly need GK, RCB, RW, striker and at least 1 CM, 2 if we sell either of the above)

Lets say we can spend 150 million, which we most likely cannot.
Mbeumo 60
Guehi 40
Trafford 20

That leaves 30 million to spend on 1-2 central midfielders and a striker.

I would be shocked if we are after more than 1 of these highly rated EPL players.

I’d not be opposed to moving Gordon/Barnes on and replacing him with a top quality creative LW type who can shift inside to play LCM in games like yesterday where we expect to have plenty of the ball and need to break teams down.

Someone like Eze for example would allow us to go with this against stronger teams where we need to win the midfield battle.

                        Tonali

          Bruno                 Joelinton

New RW                                     Eze

                         Isak

Then against weaker opposition (or if we’re chasing a game and need to change it) we bring in Barnes for Joelinton and go.

                       Tonali

          Bruno                  Eze

New RW                                Barnes

                        Isak

Operating closer to a 4-2-3-1 with Eze playing more advanced than Big Joe does generally.

Went with keeping Barnes because I think it’s easier to use him more rotationally, I don’t know if Gordon would accept it. I think with CL football there’ll be plenty of football for both of them but I don’t think it’s ideal that both of them seem only capable of playing (or willing to play?) in one position. There’s been little to suggest that the two of them can play together and be effective, which isn’t great.

Eze is also just an example, I’m not sure he’d be the best player for the role but just the idea of someone who is first choice LW but also us the versatility to play inside and be more of an asset in breaking teams down.

You still have the same issue with isak playing every minute and that punishes us end of the season, always does. IMO we need a striker and I think Delap is a no brainier personally.

Nonsense.

This new one player that I obviously intended to be our only signing of the summer can cover striker too and will also solve our CB and GK issues.

I don’t want someone to cover - I want a second striker

IF his motivation is what Jacobs says it is he'd be mad not to sign for us. Have you seen Eddie's track record?

Also his track record for breaking in slower and sitting people on the bench. He’d get a lot more minutes at other clubs and if that’s what he wants then that’s what he wants, don’t make him “mad to not sign for us”

He’d get a substantial amount of minutes here.

He’d be working under one of the best coaches in Europe.

He’d be playing in the Champions League.

He’d be playing with a significant number of current/former England players (Burn, Trippier, Gordon, Hall, Livramento, Pope, Trafford(?), Guehi(?))

If he wants to become the best player he can be, we’re the best option out of that list, as it currently stands.

Yes it’s more than just minutes on the pitch!

He’ll get lots of minutes with us throughout the season, and a world class coach to boot who has proven to help players develope and progress at international level.

Other clubs he’s not going up against isak, if a player comes out and says I want guaranteed minutes then it’s obviously his top motivation (behind money) and all the other teams can guarantee him more. We can offer him lots yes but some on that list will offer him a starting place week in week out if that’s what drives him.
