NUFC Transfer Rumours

I’ll say it again. What do people see in Dibling? He’ll be lucky if he gets to Madueke levels imo let alone Mbeumo. Not a lot of player there (right now) for 55m.

If Bryan M’s going for sub 60m it’s an absolute no brainer choosing between the 2.

I think Dibling has a higher ceiling than Mbuemo, and I'm ok with that for £55m.

but we need what? 3-4 years? Before Dibling become a better player?

I would prefer to go for Mbeumo and challenge the title next season, rather than waiting for a few years later when our purple patches might have been gone by that time

FYI Barnes in Premier League this season 9 goals, 5 assists from 1,754 minutes so 125 minutes per g/a

Mbeumo excluding pens got 15 goals and 9 assist from 3,417 minutes so 142 minutes per g/a

I didn't know that data before looking but I'd put Mbeumo on a similar level to Barnes, I rate Barnes, and think Mbeumo would be a good signing, but think some may have unrealistic expectations of what Mbeumo would bring based on one great season (numbers wise).

My post choosing Dibling over Mbeumo would be with the added caveat that Howe has chosen to go that route, that would be enough to excite me to his potential.

Here's a question. So obviously we lack squad depth etc. But I see a slight issue that I don't know the answer to.

Say we signed Guehi and Mbeumo and the went straight into the first 11. Great, we have upgraded two positions and then it also means we have more depth in that Murphy and Schar/Burn are available to step in when needed....

However as we have seen, most players need sharpness and regular matches to play at their maximum. So if a Burn or Schar become a bit part player at their age, we can't expect the same level of performance as we have seen this year if they need to step in at short notice to cover injury or suspension.

Similar to how bad Longstaff has looked in comparison to when he was playing week in and week out and to a lesser extent Willock, although his performance drop I would put mostly due to injuries.

Not sure what I'm getting at here as clearly we need depth, but I'm just saying the players we drop to the bench, won't be as useful as they are now in theory.

Think it comes down to more squad rotation, so everyone gets at leadt some semi-regular starts and/or signifigant minutes. Stop relying on same starting 11 as much/often as possible.

On the one great season point, Mbeumo got 9 in 25 the year before but had a bad injury. He’s at 29 goals in 63 PL games in the last 2 seasons in a very average, mid table team.

He’s also showing he can work really well with a main striker based on Wissa doing so well.

I guess we haven't had chance to see it under Eddie as we have never had much of a squad outside of 12-13 core players.

But history tells us he never likes to change his back 4 unless to go back 5 for the odd game and generally never changes a winning team either.

So yeah I think it would require him to trust the squad and not be afraid to rotate.

I don't even know how this is a debate. Mbeumo's numbers are literally insane for the last few years - Dibling's had 5 good games.

On the back of this, can anyone see a world we sell Gordon and have the following 4 wingers:

LW Barnes, Osula

RW Mbeumo, Murphy

Can people stop trying to sell Gordon ffs.

Wasn't trying to and don't want to.

Just seeing if anyone else could see it happening.

I'd be gutted if he left tbh
