Yes I think he’ll go abroad personally and there was the assertion that we’d be less likely to sell to another premier league team to avoid strengthening them. WilliamPS
Sounds like the journos just played to the audiences priors - they say stuff they know the audience will nod along to. Same for Delap, can’t say he’s moving for the money until you know who he signs for. They say stuff like that as the fans like to hear that any player who isn’t coming is greedy vs having football reasons
Dr.Spaceman
Gordon checking out last summer makes a lot of sense. Was it us who offered him to Liverpool or did he make some noises about leaving beforehand? I don't think he's done himself any favours this season and I'd be surprised if Liverpool were still interested tbh.
mattypnufc
Tbf he’s been decent at times. Has looked poor since his sending off and the injury on international duty and grown out that daft barnet. I’m sure he’ll find himself. Makes a lot of sense to be fair, he's not been right a lot of the season.

RobsonsWonderland
I think he looked worse once we realized Barnes could play in that position. Ironically Barnes has looked worse since Gordon come back in the team. And both looked shite once our only winger who crosses the ball went into rb

They wouldn't be able to offer him that at all in fairness - what if he's injured or loses form etc? He'll head off to a European giant at some point - it is the 'links' to the likes of Arsenal that are laughable

He signed a new contract and started to play himself into a bit of form, before the red card, etc. Don't think he took not getting into the England eleven too well either. Goes for all 3 of our wingers in truth. With Isak out or not functioning at 100% there was more responsibility on them to step up, and none of them did really. You could argue that Lewis Hall being out has not helped Gordon or Barnes as he would normally provide the overlap, but on Sunday Livramento was doing that great, but Gordon in particular was poor. Likewise Barnes and Murphy produced fuck all from the other side. I get that against a low block it's difficult, but we struggle with this every time. That's the missing element from our wide players, the extra quality to unlock a well organised defence.

Luke Baldwards saying last night he’d been told/made aware (I know I know 😂) that we couldn’t spend 60m on 4 players. Make of that what you will. Douglas was sat next to him and didn’t saying anything I don’t rmemebr.

Totally agree, we don’t have anyone who can pull something out of their arsenal against a tight defence.

aussiemag
I agree with others that in an ideal world we sell Willock and replace him with someone who can retain possession. Our inability to keep the ball and break down the low block hurts us.
