Being good sellers means absolutely nowt if we're vastly overpaying for average players, though.

Yeah recent history on signings provides little encouragement that we'll be better off overall.

Where the hell is Suds with his databases and algorithms in all of this?

He was hired by Mitchell. He's probably in the broom cupboard playing World of warcraft.

So back of a cigarette box scouting then?

Jokes aside, Recruitment should include both analytics. I'm sure suds is involved

True, was hoping by now he unearthed some rough diamonds for Howe to polish.

Can't say I have seen his impact but at the same time I accept its quite difficult to judge by what is shared publicly.

I wouldn't expect this tbh. We need players that are ready to come in and compete at the highest level. We don't really have the set up to develop young talent and polish rough diamonds to be frank.

Was thinking along the lines of lesser known players who Howe can work with and improve. Like a Bruno or Schar (admittedly he was here before Howe), but players with potential that would fit our system, and over time become crucial cogs in the machine at a price point we can afford.

Not sure we have the funds or the clout right now to consistenly attract players who shift the dial immediately. Thiaw has thus far, the rest of our summer signings not so as yet.

Semenyo and Guehi were 2 highly realistic signings, but the board went for ''Elanga'' and ''Wissa''. Ffs 2 signings that would transform us to a top 6 side

Not to be pedantic but neither of those players were really lesser known. (Both full internationals). I think your asking us to try and spend less on some squad fillers? It's obviously a balancing act right and a very difficult one. I think it's pretty obvious Eddie has specific requirements when it comes to players and he obviously holds a significant amount of sway when it comes to the club. We've just got to trust the club when it cones to these things and hope they continue to get it right.

Do you know something we don't ?

Then you have the UEFA wage structure, which by all accounts where very close to the limit.

That's debatable, yeah we have finished in the top 7 the last few years but our turnover is nowhere near the top 6

Semenyo just signed a new contract, and Guehi was always going to run down his contract trying to get the best wages. After the Mitchell summer he was out of our hands.

The club have washed their hands of him, to avoid the norovirus.

We chased for an entire summer and made an offer that made most of this board uncomfortable, so we couldn’t have really tried any harder to get Guehi. A weird player to use to push your agenda.

Exactly, we offered between 50-65 for Guehi depending on what you read. Parrish played hard ball…..

Aye and it's cost him £50 Million in cash and eventually a relegation.
