Harvey Barnes (Out for a Month with a Thigh Strain)

Recommended Posts

Can’t be pre-planned surely, Joelinton and Bruno will both play 90mins next games so giving them 45 each keeps them fresh. Barnes won’t start next game.

Tbh I think his first half he was trying too hard, like a player who was rusty and not settled, took shots on when maybe there were better options but I don’t feel he was at hookable levels. I’d have said a word from the manager would have been enough.

It’s not great if the one decent option off the bench is in the managers bad books. We shall see but agree with those saying doesn’t look great.

Players have bad games even the best but the move here hasn't quite worked for him or us . He offers a goal threat but very little else so he's the super sub or the shit or bust option when a games very stretched. I'd move him on and bring in a pacey young player who can play either flank and learn from the pros around him. He's never getting ahead of a fit Gordon and can't nail down the right hand side against Murphy.

His remaining book value is probably what, in the 25-30m range?

Yeah, but it instantly means we could afford a similar deal.

Five year deal, you’re looking at £7.6m a season. So you’re looking at at £7.6m + 7/12th of £7.6m = £12m. We’d need £26m to break even but we’d want to make a profit on him. £35m for me given his previous form and goals / assists record.

He'd go for about 28 mill is my guess

Wouldn't sell for that.

Even though he doesn't start for us, he'd instantly give any PL side a good goals output. 35m minimum.

Hes highly rated by other fans, from my experience at least.

He has a good shot on him, but his touch on the ball isn't great.

It was a very poor piece of play from him to let that guy through to what might well have been a second goal. You get taught to move towards the ball, but he stayed put in a bad bit of judgement. It suggested that he might not be in the best place mentally.

In some ways pleased it’s an injury.

Some over the top reactions in here. The ability to ping in goals from LW has real value, just ask Miggy... The imbalance in the squad between LW and RW isn’t his fault, and whilst fixing RW is the priority I hope it will be done without weakening another area of the pitch.

He's backup LW, though I'm always less than convinced when he starts for us vs when he comes on for us as a sub.

In a non-PSR world I'd happily have him assuming he's happy being the backup.

But he's one of few players who we could potentially move on for a decent fee. Might be one where both parties are happy because I think he starts for mid table teams.
