Completely agree. And all the bollocks that gets flung at them...."bought success", "not really a big club", "plastic fans" ....will be thrown our way too in the coming years. If there is one club that we should have a solidarity-pact with, it's them.

How can "bought success" be levelled at us when it's literally all accounted for under FFP and rules were brought on specifically to stop us doing what they have ?

Plastic fans ? Another one that will be laughed at as a quick scan of the attendance records will show.

It'll be flung at any club that isn't Manchester United, Arsenal or Liverpool.

They spent massively due to no ffp, then when at the top of the league, ffp was implemented to stop the likes of us competing with them. By the time ffp came in, they had won the league and were talked about as one of the ‘Big 6’.

it’s nothing like Stifler says about them having ffp forced upon them and having to fight against it. They were as complicit in it all as the other ‘top 5’ clubs, in bringing up the drawbridge.

I'm not sure that was the intention of FFP but it was the effect.

I agree. But it won't stop other fans from saying it. Basically, look at how the RTG goons are going on about us right now. That's the way many other fanbases will be like if we become successful.

Let them. Makes them just look bitter when you point out the facts.

Maybe. The point is though that, in the modern era of the last 50 years, City fans have seen both sides of the life of a football fan, which the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal & Man Utd haven't. That lot like to belittle City as some kind of diddy club pre-2008, which is utter bullshit.

No one is belittling them. I like them as a club and admire the way they play. But to say they have done nothing wrong is just bullshit, and that’s what we’re discussing, not the club stature.

Yeah but City are purely where they are due to limitless spending pre FFP and quite probably breaking FFP rules since.

Man City's FFP charges will be resolved with a financial handshake, and as a result FFP rules will be reconfigured so that Saudi clubs play in European competition.

City's lawyers winning against FFP charges, will no doubt help us - but in doing so will also give free reign for Saudi Arabia playing and Saudi League being incorporated to EUFA

I am talking about their club stature though, that's the point. Fans of the traditional big five like to dismiss their big club status as something that was entirely contrived by the UAE takeover, when in reality they have always been one of the biggest clubs in the country. They are the club that NUFC have the most common with in the country, outside of that lot down the road.

It’s already being flung at us. The Sela deal when other clubs got a hold of it got loads of criticism, despite it still being below what the top 6 clubs get.

Go online now and all you see is our name mentioned along with Chelsea, and Man City as breaking FFP rules, even looking at our spending and saying we have spent our way to the top.

Wait until other fans get a hold of our Adidas deal, especially if it’s worth the £40m it’s rumoured to be.

Yeah, but the whole discussion here stemmed from the Man City fan asking for evidence of them being ‘bent’ and denying that they are. No one has denied their club stature.

It's not just about the money though is it? The fact is that they have spent their money spectacularly well, to the point that they are finely honed machine & super-strong in every club facet. That is something to be respected.

Have you talked to other clubs fans about the Sela deal when they whinge about it ? I have, just ask them how much is a fair amount for a Champs league club and get them to look up other clubs deals.

Plenty of people do though. Maybe not on here but that's the lazy chatter amongst many fans of rival clubs.

Maybe but Man Utd have spent close to £1.6 billion since Fergie retired in 2013 and that hasn’t resulted in a title win, why is it City spending has got us where we are but the same isn’t levelled at other clubs.

I don’t get this Saudi clubs in UEFA competitions talk. It seems as though all the talk about it, is coming from pundits who fear we won’t be the biggest league soon, and lapped up by fans who think the same and fall for it.

It’s pure Rio Ferdinand talk.

Nothing coming out of Saudi or anywhere official is pushing the idea either.

They’ve spent over a billion £ in the last decade. Most transfers of course will be successes simply due to signing the quality of player for the amount of money- they’re hardly speculating, but they’ve also signed some shit too- Mangala for over £40m? Robinho? Rodwell, Jo, Bony?

To be honest I don’t engage with them.

No amount of talking is going to change their mind.

Whole different discussion to what’s going on here though.

I can't stand Man United but there commercial income was organically grown through their success.

Man City and Chelsea just hooked up an oil well to the club.

Man U can spend billions as they have the commercial income - the fact it hasn't resulted in success is down to spending it badly.  City didn't have the same commercial income so found 'ways' to get round it - but spent well on the whole - so got success.
