Juventus have an obligation to make the transfer permanent this summer for an undisclosed fee.

From the club in February so based on that he ain't coming back

Yep, they don’t use language like that if there’s a chance of him coming back.

I don't think he's Newcastle level, and particularly not Juve level, but he's not a rubbish player either. Truth is somewhere in the middle.

Agree we've got a good deal here though.

Question is did we intentionally sign him for the purpose of selling him on for a fee in January for PSR reasons, or (more likely) was it due to a  offer by Juventus being too good to turn down and that he hadn't really impressed in his time here. Brilliant deal for us mind, for a signing that cost nothing in terms of transfer fee.

Never really understood the pelters this lad gets but, then again, so do players we've kept.

If there was a trawl through the Chelsea Carabao Cup game thread I’m sure there would be a lot of people suggesting he replaced Burn in the starting XI.

He had a couple of bad games for us but he never really had a proper run in the side. I have no doubt Howe would have made him into a good signing for us, but we couldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth when Juve came in with that sort of money for him.

I think we were after him and Tosin as solid PL signings to get us through a couple of years, so any funds we did have available could have been used on a RW, hence the bid for Olise last summer.

When Olise went to Bayern and Tosin went to Chelsea, I think that’s why we switched attention to Guehi and brought in Osula.

Absolutely. Even the Juve fans picking on him is a bit tight like. It's not his fault he's not the stellar signing the fans think they're worthy of now.

Decent player, been injured, getting games now. They are still 5th (?)

I'm just baffled by the desire here to laugh at him. Weird

From todays Chronic, who are still pedalling the 'need to qualify for europe' line about Juve signing him permanent. :icon_scratch:

Newcastle United loanee Lloyd Kelly has suffered an injury setback during his stint at Juventus.

The Serie A side must complete a £20million deal for the ex-Bournemouth defender the moment that Juve qualify for any three of the European competitions.. That looks highly likely after Juventus climbed up to fourth spot after a 2-0 win over Monza.

But Juve issued a statement on Kelly's injury status after he made 12th appearance for the Turin club. The Italian club said today: "Lloyd Kelly, having reported a muscle problem in his right thigh at the end of last night’s game against Monza, underwent diagnostic tests this morning at J|Medical, which revealed a low-grade hamstring injury,

“New examinations will be repeated in about 10 days’ time in order to define the exact recovery time.”

Kelly has taken time to adjust to life in Serie A with Juventus under fire on the Italian football scene. Igor Tudor replaced Thiago Motta, the man who Kelly signed for in January, as head coach at the end of last month with Kelly caught up in the middle of some intense political battles.

Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli now comes under serious scrutiny and has been blamed for Kelly's signing by some journalists in Italy. But his form has picked up and despite suffering the injury against Monza he is enjoying the challenge of Serie A action.

Juve are struggling for transfer funds going into the summer but have no choice to pay up £20m for Kelly once they make it into any of the three UEFA competitions for 2025/26.

The Shields Gazette are reporting similar.

Juve have a few really hard games if they are to qualify for Europe.

It would be typical if they fail to qualify and the rumours are true as I can't imagine anyone else paying anything near £20 million for him.

If it is true then it is concerning. If AC Milan win the Coppa Italia then only top 6 get Europe. They’re currently three points ahead of 7th with tricky games to come. Will become two points if Lazio avoid defeat in an easy game tonight
