They're basically going to sell him at the price they got for Andersen at this point.[emoji38] Still can't understand why they would rather sell Andersen at £35m..

Andersen was quite a bit older wasn't he? I always thought they would prefer selling him for that reason, even though he's a fantastic CB.

Yeah, 28. But they were never going to keep Guehi long term, and his value will just gradually drop down from what we offered unless they manage to get him on a new contract.

I don't really think Botman being fit or not changes much at all personally, we will still need a CB

We've got five senior CBs in the squad. Three of them are over 31 (Burn/Lascelles/Schar), one of  them (Kelly) has a poor injury record and the last one in Botman is recovering from one of the worst injuries you can get as a professional athlete. Add to that, two of the five are out of contract in the summer and the need for a good quality CB is undoubted.

Specifically an eventual replacement for Schar which means a right sided CB. With Krafth being sidelined, I'm assuming we'd go with Kelly in the short term if Schar got injured.

I would say we were in for Guehi thinking that him and Botman would play together at some point, and likely for years given the bid we made for him. I don't think he was being signed as a short term sticking plaster as cover for Botman only

I still think he had a purple patch at the end of last season. a bit like miggy when he went crackers 😂 and we gave him a new contract.

Krafth, but he is also 30.

Howe’s confirmation that we went nowhere near £60-£65 million puts things into perspective.  The Parish mouthpiece Mockbel saying we were at £65+5 all just a ruse from Parish to show he was a big boy.  Fuck them

Recently became an England regular.  He cost a relatively large fee at the time for someone of his age when he moved to Palace. Palace captain. Their fans have raved about him for a good while. Linked with big moves regularly.

Very similar to Michael Ricketts in lots of ways.

Well, if they were truly trying to get even more for him, that means we were miles of each other. Strange how we kept trying then. Maybe they wanted to make the price seem that high for other potensial bidders.

Didn’t it come out that we only made a few bids and therefore maybe didn’t keep trying as long as Palace/some would have us believe.

I've always wondered if there was something going on with John Textor and his battles with the other Palace shareholders. Maybe he/some were more willing to accept than others.

It was his other club, Lyon, who agreed a £40m deal for Minteh in June (before the player vetoed it). Despite them apparently being in dire financial straits. So we've got some kind of relationship there.

And he's also injured for the next 8 weeks as well. I know he can play at CB but I wouldn't include him in that group, he's a good backup RB and at push RCB in a three. I wouldn't ever want him playing more than one game as an emergency CB or perhaps against lower league teams in cups.

He was their best ball players yesterday. He really is brilliant on the ball.

Seems weak as piss for a CB, mind. Barnes ragdolled him late on and I didn’t think it was a foul. Seems to happen to him at least once a game whenever I watch him for England.
