Anyone who's thorough and knows their shit fancy having a crack at what the Isak sale actually means for PSR?

It gives us what? Say 90m in profit plus count back his wages we've saved. So what 110m?

The problem is obviously the timing is really bad and if we were to spend say 150m we have to cover those cost in the subsequent years when his profits drop off. I don't see us growing revenue by 50% YOY for the next 3 years so we can't go mad because if we do we have to sell our other gems and the problem with selling quality players is replacing them.

When Yasir and Jamie Reuben went round there for talks the other day they nicked a solid gold ashtray, a watch and some copper wire, so that should add a good bit of extra PSR headroom once we fence the goods. Apparently a major organised crime group tipped them off.

I put this in the Isak thread last night:

We’re left with about £91m profit, which I like to divide by three for a reasonable look at what it allows us to do in terms of annual cost. We also save approximately £6m in wages, plus Isak’s amortization cost.

Woltemade costs = Isak roughly speaking.

————————————————————

Wissa is roughly £15m per year (wages are fairly low if reports are at all accurate). We could basically add another around the same price with the Isak money if we were fully compliant without the his sale. Skeptical that’s the case though.

Wissa won't be getting a 5 year deal btw and I'm sure we've promised him a canny salary as well.

His wages are very low right now. He should come in at under £100k/wk (limited reporting is around £75k, which is tripling his current wage). But yeah, we need to know the actual fee and contract length.

Aye, I imagine his salary will be around 100k per week.

I'm too old to believe he's coming here because Demba Ba played for us

He's coming here because we are offering him the best deal.

If he’s on £100k a week, the fee is £55m and we give him a four year deal he’ll be our most expensive player annually. I’m hanging on the hope that will not be the case.

I'm glad you understand this stuff and I expect this to be the case.

Giving him a deal until 34 isn't common practice for any other top club, although generally speaking signing this profile of player is becoming less common so it's hard to gauge.

Through the league phase I believe we've earned about €55m in the CL so far (broken down as €18.6m participation, ~€18.5m value pillar (share of TV), and ~€18m in prize money). We have the opportunity to add another €11m in prize money by winning the playoff.

That does not include the extra matchday revenue for what will now be at least five CL home games, which I'd guess is roughly £14m.

Based on the Deloitte numbers for last season I'd say we are very likely to have revenue (not counting player sale profits) of over £400m for 2025/26, which will be a massive record. [We still don't have the actual accounts for 2024/25; we won't get the 2025/26 accounts for over a year]

55 m just this season? that seems insane

The new format is a money printer if you do reasonably well. €2.5B is now distributed to the Champions League clubs and they increased the prize money portion to 65% (used to be 55%). I think Villa got over ~€85m last season for getting to the QF (plus the matchday boost).

It's absolutely huge and underlines the importance of qualifying on a regular basis (which is obviously a massive challenge).

Yeah, but it’s not realistic to expect to qualify every year in the PL. Even 1-2 of the clubs with twice our revenue are going to be left out each year. Add us and Villa to the mix and it’s cutthroat.

It’s honestly too much money. It’d be better for the health of the sport if more of it trickled down to the other two competitions or if more of it went to the smaller associations. But no one seems to care about the health of the sport.

Absolutely agree. It's a massive ask to qualify every year and beyond us. It's why the new stadium and increasing revenue is crucial for us to be able to compete on a consistent basis.

And couldn't agree more the sport has been ruined unfortunately, rotten to the core if we are being honest.

At least it seems pretty likely that the PL will be getting five spots most years going forwards. Makes it a little more likely that we’ll make it once every couple of years or so.

That win puts us at about €65m earned so far in the Champions League.

Plus our matchday revenue will now reflect roughly £17m more just from CL home games.

£57m bid for James Trafford incoming.
