One song repeated every quarter of an hour or so. Awful. Eh? Where were you sitting? They had, amongst others: is this a library wheres your famous atmosphere afc Wimbledon 1-0 and you still don’t sing and the classic - premier league, you must be shite playing us on a Tuesday night. gbandit
Was on the metro home yesterday and there was a 50 year old man who was on the phone the entire way from Haymarket to Palmserville complaining about the game. Here are some of his word for word lines: ”You just want to see a bit of effort and there was none” ”They (Wimbledon) could have scored any time and it would have been penalties, it should have been penalties” ”We play like that against Everton and we’ll lose ten nil” ”only an idiot wouldn’t realise Howe’s unhappy. That’s the problem and it’s because of Staveley going and him having no say on transfers” ”there’s no way we’re finishing above mid table this season” ”it was all looking better 18 months ago but it’s gone wrong, Howe will be England manager. In ten years we’ll still have won nothing” ”it’s always the same with Newcastle, there’s always negativity” ”it was like a Sunday league match out there. No one cared, there was no quality” “we’ll get stuffed by Chelsea, Palmer will tear us apart” He was a season ticket holder I’m sure, what the fuck is he doing going to the match. He didn’t say one positive thing the whole journey, just relentless bile Edited October 2 by gbandit

You can't get in behind them...and you can't open anything up coming inside as it's too congested. You can't shoot either, as there's no space to line up a shot, or it just gets blocked. Surely the best way is to hoy in cross after cross? I don't think Barnes or miggy put more than 1 cross in each tonight. It's probably the team's biggest weakness, we've struggled for ages to break down teams who sit deep and defend in numbers. We play great against teams who push up the field and attack us as it allows our attackers to use their pace to get in behind the defence but all of that is nullified if the opposition just stay in the 18 yard box. McCormick
The reaction to this game is a bit over the top. It was an xi that haven’t played together this season and we controlled the game against a team that took no risks at all and parked the bus well. Not an enthralling game by any means but at no point did I think we were in any danger of not going through.

Colos Short and Curlies
The way Wimbledon approached it meant this was basically an early season pre season friendly addon to get some minutes in legs

gbandit
The game was shite, everyone accepts that. The game was only ever going to be shite with 11 men behind the ball and zero intent on their part. I don’t have any issue with how we played and it means nothing for the rest of our season other than we’re still in the cup which is good news. The only interesting things to come from the game were Osula, Vlach getting on and probably positioning himself as second in line if Dubs is out for a while, Hall looking very good again with the ball at his feet

I think it was a game that highlighted where our real problem lies composure and creativity in the final 3rd. Regardless of the opposition it was fucking poor and highlighted our lack of technical players yet again.

We practically put out our reserve side, man (besides a few first teamers here and there). That kind of cobbled-together second-string team is never going to have the kind of cohesion you’re looking for. We won while resting some key players. Take the positives and move on. We don't break teams down because there's no on the ball creativity through the middle and neither of our wide men get to the byline and put crosses in. Someone said it last night, we have a team of runners.

Kanji
I love Sean, tbh as the local boy who does give 100% every time for us but it highlights that our midfield needs some changes in the next few windows. We need more ball players.

If we weren't 1 up I would have expected more effort the last 30 minutes. Boring game but no complaints about how we approached it. Maybe someone like Trevan Sanusi would be a good option against sides like these. Think maybe a few more of the U21's may have gotten an opportunity last night unfortunately, due the this being a rearranged game, a number of those (like Sanusi, Harrison) were playing in the U21 National cup fixture

AyeDubbleYoo
Always depends where you sit. I switched ends at half time and in first half (Leazes) it sounded pretty bad and all I could hear was away fans. Second half (Gallowgate) was very different (but still not good). Away fans are at an unfair advantage anyway, because they’re the most vocal and generally very dedicated to fan culture. Wish we could ban those songs where the away fans mock the home fans, because everyone could do it to almost anyone else. Like last night on 85mins when there was a mass exit by loads of our lot, the AFCW fans started the “is there a fire drill”.
