Emery going bananas about the red and saying they’ll appeal. Might be wrong. But I don’t remember many genuine protests from their players. Duran and the rest of them all knew he was guilty. 
 

Genuinely don’t know what the fuck people are seeing. Had all the time in the world to get out the way. Thought the left was accidental at first, but that looks worse the more you see it. The right is not even up for debate IMO. 

 

Also, this whole ‘did he mean to’ (he clearly did) is kind of irrelevant, no? Plenty of studs up and stamp type tackles often don’t seem deliberate. But are still red cards. Curtis Jones last year at Spurs. Sadio Mane one year on Ederson for a high boot are examples that spring straight to mind.

Mainly that their press has us pushed deep and they were starting to control more territory. We were finding it hard to keep the ball and also progress it. 

 

Then about ten minutes before the sending off, we definitely got a better handle on things. But when I made the post, the game had definitely swung towards Villa looking very strong even being a goal down.

They played well after conceding first against us last season and got battered 5-1. Games are longer than 15 mins

I've been expecting Villa to get found out by other managers for a while, I thought it would happen last season but no other team seems able to exploit their high line like we do.

Been a tough few weeks for the handful of WUMs on this forum like.  They’ll be hopeful over the next 2 games but I think we can keep going.  HWTL

Exactly… we had set up into counterattacking the high line mode with our noses in front. Hence why we still had all the best chances and goal disallowed in that first half whilst Villa offered very little.

Every Villa fan using the Howe out of context quote about it "seeming harsh" as a proof that it wasn't a red.  Conveniently leaving out the part where he says "I only saw it live". I also didn't think there was any foul play going on until I saw the replay.

Yes, they looked like they would have too much for us over the 90 minutes. Based on that spell after we scored. That spell where they had begun to develop their press and we had spells of retreating possession. 

 

We will never know if they'd have beaten us 11 v 11 today. My personal opinion is that they probably would've. It would've been a horribly close game. I am delighted we won. The red card was amazing for us. 

 

I am enjoying the irony of you pointing out that they had t had a shot in the sample size as if that would point to them having no shots over the 90 minutes 11 v 11. Kinda counter to your argument.

If you posted something along the lines of "Villa are growing into this" after 15 mins then i don't think anyone would have batted an eyelid. They pressed us more and were slowly getting a foothold into the game without threatening. As LFEE says this may have played into our hands like it did in the 5-1

 

But after 15 mins you say Villa look more likely to win the game based on them pressing a bit more is looking for negativity for the sake of negativity which you revel in

Sadly couldn’t make it today as was at work, managed to watch most of the game. Love how on Amazon you can watch the full match back, shame it isn’t until post midnight but still. 
 

From what I seen we were class. Someone made this point last week and I agree, that when we go a goal ahead at home, Howe really goes for the jugular and wants us to hammer the opposite. When we won at home under Benitez I’d have no nails left and butterflies for 40 minutes.

 

Not knocking Rafa as circumstances were different, but we have dished out a lot of hammerings under Howe and it’s class.

I know you can find every opinion everywhere online but I can't believe how much of a minority we seem to be in here.  Passed a thread on Reddit and there's even NUFC fans in agreement with everyone that it was harsh. Anyone that dares suggest he could've avoided contact is 10s of down votes deep.

 

If people had just watched the one angle from the side I could understand the contention. But that angle from behind is going around just as much and couldn't be plainer as fucking day.

Every week you see players getting stamped on twice after tackling someone, as they accidentally go full stretch towards them to stamp on their butt and then "compensates" but stamping into them with the other foot. Totally normal sequence of events, happens all the time.

To be honest, I am not sure about the red. I was certain it was the case that whatever the ref decides, VAR doesn't change that. Was surprised that he gave red rightaway.

 

Anyway we were clearly a better team so right result anyway.

I don’t think it was a red, however Reddit is shit for NUFC related stuff.

Everyone on there wants to bash our club at every opportunity, and everyone who supports the club gets downvoted to fuck.

There is also a massive skew to the Arsenal and Liverpool cry babies on there.

I'll post it again. I don't understand how the stamp with his left foot isn't deliberate. He looks at Schär way before the movement. He straightens his leg and aims it at Schär. Not something you often see at all.
