very true. I get the feeling he would have done this even if Mitch or Amanda handed him a new one. This move to Liverpool / whoever the fuck wanted him out of Barcelona, etc this summer was all orchestrated. Pre planned.

Absolutely it was all planned from a long time ago, as I mentioned before all of this came out and got barked at by nobody he was clearly phoning it in at the end of last season when you look back. It's as clear as day. Those injuries? Those miracle injuries which only took affect on an hour and magically recovered in 3 days to rinse and repeat? cmon man. 

 

I don't know if he does this again or not, maybe he's happy with Liverpool as a destination, what I am certain of is this was going to happen regardless. All of this contract talk is the biggest load of shit I've ever heard.

Loved his first interview, came across as a humble guy, excited to be here, knew about the history, past players.  He was nearly in tears watching the Cisse message to him extremely respectful to Brentford, and their fans. Really down to earth nice guy.  
 

compare that to Isak’s first interview, who came across as a total arrogant arsehole. Not one mention of his previous club, anybody who helped to get where he is.  All about him, probably couldn’t name one ex Liverpool player from the history he said made his decision to join (what, not the $350k per week you are getting?). 
 

better off without him, Hope he has a nightmare there.

I do appreciate the conscious effort the marketing folks are making to integrate the Ashley-era players like Cisse, Tiote, Jonas etc. into the legacy of the club. It was a shit time for the club but there were still moments of love and magic with these players. They’re an important part of club history and we should give them their due unless we just want to be talking about Shearer and Sir Bobby in all our promotional material for the next twenty years.

 

Just waiting for us to sign an Argentine for the inevitable Colo and Jonas video that will drive me to tears.

yeah at first I was convinced the contract would have avoided this but the last few weeks I’ve changed my mind just looking at the facts and how he’s behaved. How does a Liverpool fan even enjoy watching that video of him? He shows absolutely 0 emotion, he doesn’t thank the fans or the teammates or his manager it’s only about him. 
 

anyway, I’m very happy we signed Wissa. I like how he plays football and think he’ll be deadly for us.

He is a very good player no qualms with what at all. The issue with the deal is pure financial as we've overpaid and his fee is being amortized over a shorter period. 

 

Won't beat the dead horse here, I'm happy hes signed for us I hope he doesn't go on like he did at Brentford and does the business for us.

The shorter deal can also work in our favour if he is only seen as a stop gap for a couple of seasons.  Makes it more likely we realise a profit on the other side as his book value will be significantly lower compared to if it was spread out over the full 5 years.

Shorter deal makes it more expensive on an annual basis though which is what actually matters. 

 

As expected the club didn't confirm the contract length so we are left guessing but I can guarantee you this is a deal the owners will be less than thrilled about.

Honestly if it is a shorter deal, that would've surely been at our behest.

 

He is 29 tomorrow and this will be the most lucrative contract of his career (in Europe at least...)

 

Any player with even a half competent agent is going to want that contract term stretched out for as long as possible.

We've only overpaid if the lad doesn't perform over the next two / three years - the shortened amortisation period means that a big chunk will be off the books in a CL season.

 

If he continues to perform as he did for Brentford over the last two seasons - and given the chances we create - he'll bag 20+ goals a season.  He can also hit the ground running to allow Voltemade time to settle in, a la Wilson & Isak in 22/23.

Absolutely correct. Hall, Gordon and even the Rat were all said to be overpayments but you quite quickly forget when they're on the grass (so long as they're not stinking up the joint).

 

I'd say ~15 league goals for Wissa and a few in CL/Cups and you've gotten your value already. Honestly believe he'll become a fan favourite. 

 

Only problem now is all the waiting.
