Can we at least wait until he gets his feet through the door here and see what he can do under Eddie's tutelage, with our players around him? Sometimes a player just doesn't shine on the international stage as they do at club level either, Jared Bowen anyone?

Just gunna throw this out there. Every pundit saying we can’t compete due to PSR. This lad was 6’6 with the same raw talent 1 or 2 years ago. When we had apparently 60mil to spend on Guehi. How many scouts do we have on the books? Wilson was a known hamstring bomb for years, how were we not looking at these kind of lads. Won’t go into the amount of defenders our rivals have signed for 10-15mil that have been better than Thiaw over last season and whether Thiaw can be as good at twice the price is highly debatable. Twice as good? Never.

He was valued at £3m just a year ago fwiw, he was an unknown before the Euros.

Good stuff - really good point towards the end that tussling with Burn every day in training to win headers and use his strength against is going to do him the world of good when imposing himself on other PL centre backs.

Yeah I hope battling Burn, Botman, Thiaw and Lascelles everyday will battle harden him for those physical tussles. Didn't help Isak mind.

Just gonna throw this out there but every single club in the world missed out on him last summer bar Stuttgart. Are Stuttgart the only club in the world with enough scouts?

Im not going to sit here and pretend I know his future, but he was totally isolated at top, with no help and no service. I remember Isak having several games like that in our shirt.

I would think his Stuttgart highlights are much closer to what his performances will be here, not just trying to be positive but just because there is an actual plan in place in both situations unlike Germany.

As to Woltemade, 2 years ago he’d just had a 10 goal season for Elversburg in the German 3rd division. I imagine if we’d signed him off the back of that, you’d have had doubts about his readiness to contribute. The point is he has become much better very quickly. 
 

As to the wider moan, if you want to carry on asking the same questions despite the answers being very publicly available (PSR), then I’m not sure where to direct you. 
 

We are also (in my view very) active at finding the talent of tomorrow (Seung Soo, Minteh, Cordero, Hall…). 
 

We’re not the best run club by a long shot but we’re pretty good I think.

How many flops have those clubs that have signed £10m-15m players also signed?

 

Anyone can compete if they can see into the future.
