A lot of the time it is like watching on opposition fan TV. Just all about how great the opposition are, how they’ll be feeling, what they’ll be trying to do. And oh, Newcastle are also playing.

I think that’s half the reason people on here always think the opposition were much better than they were.

Spot on. We were by far the better team today but hopeless in the the last eighteen yard box. Why? I do not know. However every time that Wolves had the ball, apparently they were fabulous. I found out later that Don Goodman was co-commentator.

Especially annoyed by the ones who attribute motivation to the actions they are watching 'no malice there' 'he's gone too too easily' or give an instant definitive 'that's offside' as in both cases it often seems to suit what they hope is true and what outcome they prefer.

Ah fuck it, just take Hincliffe off and I'll watch ANYONE else, that's the deal. Please take the deal

Sure I heard Neville cheering like fuck when Man Utd’s first went in yesterday.

I like Shearer on co-comms (not necessarily our matches). Think he’s much better in that role than as a pundit.

Don Goodman is bad. Lee Dixon is unbearable. But nobody is as bad as Hindsight Hinchcliffe. Awful human being.

Get Grumpy Gary Birtles back on. GET THE BALL IN THE BOX

Hinchcliffe loves to describe what the player should have done, too, like he was anything other than a shite clogger

I hated Tyldesley because of his massive bias towards his beloved Man Utd, but Neville holding a mic whilst wanking himself daft over the only club he ever played for makes even Tyldesley seem bearable.

Yep. Loads of co-comms do that. But nobody as bad as him.

“He HAS to go across the keeper there. WHAT IS HE THINKING?! First time volley over the shoulder on his weaker side from 25 yards. But he can’t hit that near post. What a waste.”

If someone thinks something is shite, it’s fine to say it’s shite and explain why they think it’s shite. And substandard commentary with highly bias co-comms is definitely shite.

If everybody ignored everything they considered unacceptable and just got on with their lives sucking up the shite being dished out, then the Nazi’s would have taken over the world.

Moan like crazy, get stressed over a commentators!

Let me know when it changes and it's your moaning that's affected the outcome.

Again I had an opinion that's also fine if I don't agree it's shite!

Commentators really don't effect my world, that being said having Nazis taking over the world in your example your right! I should be pissed at commentary, shout, make banners, stand outside a stadium and chant that'll solve it!

I never said you had to agree with my opinion. Variety is the spice of life.

And if commentators don’t affect your world, why you squabbling on an internet forum with someone like me, whose world they do affect because I think they’re absolutely shite.

And if you really want to twist my melon, tell me you like Carlton Kirby. Then there’ll be proper ructions.

It's entirely deliberate and, as KI says, they're honest about it - that's the model now. Years ago on Set Piece Menu (long deceased best football podcast around), Andy Hinchcliffe talked about how Sky approached him to enquire if he would be Man City's 'guy' a la Neville for ManU and Carragher for Liverpool. It's the intended model to have commentators/pundits which are representatives of clubs. Prime had Shearer commentating on our games in one of the last sets of fixtures they had.

It's an obvious way to cultivate dramatic discussion and I assume it's mostly about driving engagement on social media. I do find the coterie of Man Utd ones (Neville, Savage, Ferdinand) totally beyond the pail on comms, though. That was absolutely rancid yesterday and I'm reminded of that Lyon game on TNT last season. Absolutely hideous and such a massive dumbing down of the profession.

Would argue the commentary during the Lyon game was the rock bottom moment for me.

Rio and Savage literally wanking themselves off when Man Utd scored

Can I just say one really important thing.

Cycling commentator Carlton Kirby is an absolute cunt.

I think I hate him more than I hate anyone else on telly. My 5 x biggest cunts on telly, with worst at the top:

Carlton Kirby
Michael McIntyre

David Wicks

Ian Beale

Gripper Stebson

Chris Sutton is also a fucking cunt.

Unfathomably employed by both the BBC AND Sky as a fucking pundit

The only good thing about him being in the commentary box is you don't have to look at his smug face. When he's a studio guest it takes all your self discipline not to put your foot through the tv.

Aye he did, modern co comms and pundits are becoming unbearable.

Yeah I'd say you're absolutely right. I can't think of anything worse and it was an insult to the profession. It's like, okay, transparently have biased co-commentators, but fucking hell can we at least uphold a veil of professionalism?

Today became funny. Talking up Wolves like they were challenging for the title after a rough few games. It was ridiculous.

I get having an ex-player as co-com for the home team...but can't remember us being afforded the same. Maybe someone who was barely remembered etc?

It would be much better with just one commentator who describes the action TBH. Having two people there just encourages waffle and pointless chat which is inevitably biased as well.

I spend quite a bit of time in Germany, and this is what they often do, just the one commentator. I found it odd at first but I actually think it's much better
