TheBrownBottle
Ekitike’s second was as much to do with Trippier doing his standard ‘shit I’m high up the pitch for no reason and don’t have the legs to get back’ leaving the RCB exposed as it was on Thiaw

robbo_11
Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike, speaking to TNT Sports, about his partnership with Florian Wirtz: "He is a great player and it is easy for me to play with him. I like to create play and link-up, I can do everything with him as a player and I know that I can create space and he will find me, so it is just fun to play with him." On his second goal: "Shout out to the ball boy. He is the man of the match. We need this kind of actions [getting the ball back quickly], we play with the fans and we play with everybody, the ball boys included. "I want to score loads of gaols and I want to be the top scorer of the club but I just want to be involved the team I just like football, if I give an assist I don't mind. "Even though it wasn't the best opponent we have had because I would say it was a big win and easy win. But I think it is nice to give the confidence to the players." The Prophet
I know this is a wild take, but is it all possible that a quality goal, quickly followed by an absolute sickner, completely knocked the stuffing out of a physically and mentally tired side? Lush Vlad
4 minutes ago, Kid Icarus said: Well that's it though isn't it? If you judge performance almost entirely on the result then you miss the detail. Our setup was spot on, 2 individual mistakes killed us and the last one makes the result look nothing like the match we watched. Absolutely no chance were we better in the 1-1 under Pardew, no chance whatsoever unless you're a fan of the team we're playing missing countless chances, us scoring our only chance, and defending for the rest of the match. But they missed countless chances like other seasons, too? They missed two one on ones when they were clean through on goal. They had the one first half when Salah stopped for some unknown reason when Trippier is beat. Pope made a couple of decent stops and some nice takes. Not so much at the end It’s not just about the result and ignoring the performance, no. The game isn’t 35 minutes long. Yet again we get a lead and this time fully deserved and should have been more Then we concede from some decent play and loose defending. Then the same again 2 minutes later. By half time we’re hanging on. Second half what did we do that was so great? We tried more of the same. But were totally wide open and getting turned very easily. Yet we didn’t create much of note. It’s all well and good saying it was a good gameplan. But it’s not that good if it unravels after going a goal up and then we have no clue how to adjust once level again and then behind. It’s not a one off or a snap judgement from people, either. All season people on here have said how soft we are. The stats show how bad we are with a lead. We never seem to know whether to stick or twist and then do neither. Not being able to overcome adversity and a setback has become a theme with this team on the road and it’s hard to keep defending it. Because we played well for most of the first half. He’s been like this for some time now, too - pushing high up against good sides and leaving us exposed. He was doing tonight when we were a goal up - and again of course when we’ve just conceded but are still level. It’s brain dead play.

I think he's completely finished, never seen a full back so out of position as he was this evening. That then always causes a chain reaction to those positions around him. I hope our signings come good but we look like we have no idea a lot of the time. Jesus Christ! I know that you are obviously looking at the result but .......... away from home we totally outplayed Liverpool for 45 minutes. Where is this "we look all over the shop" come from? Because even in defeat tonight and the draw against PSG we look pretty handy. It will all fall into place. Keep the faith.
