About to make a tit of myself on my fourth ever post here BUT the Geordie Shore dunce who leaked the Arsenal line-up that nobody would have ever guessed - and who has been pictured with Trips, and is almost certainly stupid enough to say it out loud - tweeted that Howe is gone in the summer*. Craig Hope has dropped allusions that Howe might walk, which MIGHT be his way of saying "I was right". *Again, I'm sorry, but it would be Quintessentially Newcastle if that's how it was made public. Honestly mate, we can all get tied up in knots with the amount of rumours and second guessing that goes on. Fun and games man
BermyToon
Ref for the game: Chris Kavanagh, the same guy who ref'd our FA Cup tie against Villa. Not expecting any points from this game.

Tiotes Witch Doctor
This would be a great time to break the curse against these. Remember that game was in the 4th finish season where we absolutely steamrolled them at home? Was it 4-1?

We played very much like we have this season. Only difference was we took our chances. Mainly coming in the last few minutes.
Hanshithispantz
We essentially had them penned into their own box for 45 minutes. One of the best halves of football we've put in under Howe.
Danh1
Aye that first half was class, second was closer. Was nervous after they pulled one back. I was in the Directors Box for the first and only time with work. Atmosphere was fucking class.
Chicken Dancer
Fucking loved that season man. Really special times. We scored some amount of goals and felt unbeatable at home.

My favourite season watching us. Proper buzz around every home game, if the season never halted for the World Cup we’d have finished even higher imo. We benefited from getting 2 successive goals early on to lift the pressure but as soon as it went 1-2 it was very twitchy. Similar to the Southampton semi when we were technically 3 up then lost Bruno and control of the game. Scorelines really do cloud judgements on here 2/3 of that season was a grind until Isak hit his stride in rotation and alongside Wilson.

That maych v Brighton didn't resemble anything like how we've played this season. Your memory is playing tricks on you. And unlike the Chelsea game you mention, we also won the 2nd half. Correct though, it was a grind. Almiron was a beast that game chasing down everything. He didn’t score but his industry was next level and I was never his biggest fan. Probably remembering when we got our second goal incorrectly as per @Ronaldo but the game particularly the second half was a grind. Almiron WAS immense second half in particular with his pressing and work rate. If you call scoring 2 stoppage time goals on the counter attack as well as capitalising on an error if I recall then so be it. Trying to think what chances we created both halves goals aside? Remember Brighton playing triangles around us and Dunk being surprisingly comfortable in possession.

Obviously that sort of intensity is impossible to maintain for best part of 100 mins so a drop off in the 2nd half was always likely, but even so we also won that half as well and it should really have been 5 if I remember rightly as Wilson missed a sitter just after Bruno scored. Didn't really resemble anything like this season. Edited April 28 by Wallsendmag
Chicken Dancer
I remember shitting myself second half in fairness, but that first half was incredible on the pitch and in the stands (like much of that season). I do agree that absolutely nowt like this season mind. Dull on the pitch and in the stands, Liverpool aside.

There’s the NUFC edit… Honsetly… you could show an edit of first 45mins against Sunderland and wouldn’t see much difference. We’d just qualified for the UCL against all the odds so I’m sure he can forgiven for going a little overboard with his praise that night. Our effort and concentration and commitment could not be faulted. Where we’ve struggled this season is concentration due to every game being on a knife edge it’s wore us out. I still see effort and commitment. Just not many goal takers. My point still stands. The opposition still had a great 35+ minute spell. Like us this season they had no goal taker on the night. Andy84
Proper class that 4-1. Sunny evening, pressing them all over proper Howe ball and ended up battering them. Would love us to get back to that Edited April 28 by Andy84
