Then he went to Liverpool. So just to string us along and keep us around as a backup in case Liverpool change their mind. We need to be more street smart than that. Again, the optics make us look incredible naive.

Experience shows that this will only steel the determination of PGMOL to protect their poor little red darlings by giving then every decision going. KaKa Posted Thursday at 17:09 Share Posted Thursday at 17:09 If this summer goes badly it's a full reset that will be needed I think. Really beginning to think we're going to need a DOF and Manager with strong reputations and name recognition in order to have a chance out here man. Starting to feel like the club just isn't being shown any kind of respect and it's such a terrible terrible look. The rest of this summer is going to be massive. I disagree with the wobbly eyed fat kid when he says that we're embarrassing and unable to compete with anyone for a signature. That implies that nobody has wanted any players we've signed and is total bollocks. Getting shafted last minute by a player and his agent who have given assurances until the last 4 hours before he signed for someone else isn't embarrassing either. It just makes them look like cunts for lying to us

What are you supposed to do when the player and agent are making all the right noises? Pull the plug just in case they're fibbing? The players that will make us better are of a level where they will be attracting interest from the top clubs, we can't just buckle and hoy the towel in every time they get involved

Have started feeling this way as well. As much as we love Eddie I don't see high end players chomping at the bit to play for him. And the other concern is how it seems our best players want out as well.

At this point it's looking very likely that the problem is our own gullibility for the wallet inspector and not that we were honest to God good actors who got gazumped in a situation that no one could have seen coming. This is by my count possibly coming up to double figures that this has happened. You don't need to pull the plug, at the bare minimum, just don't continue to keep telling the local press that you're confident, play it down until it's done. Beyond that you can always have the insight to spot it a mile off. Edited Thursday at 17:42 by Kid Icarus

And stop briefing the bloody journalists unless it's to our advantage. Just tell them there will be an update when there's something concrete to update on. Shutting our trap would have saved face a bit. Then again if there was radio silence and the kid went to Liverpool without a hint that we'd agreed a few and personal terms, we'd be asking why we weren't involved and questioning why we're not doing that type of business

geordiesteve710 Posted Thursday at 17:53 Share Posted Thursday at 17:53 Probably clutching at straws here but could we have been trying to impress/persuade another potential target by making a lot of noise about how we were signing Munoz and it's the club to sign for this summer etc? Or a source briefing journalists against the hierarchy's wishes?
Mills and Boon Posted Thursday at 17:53 Share Posted Thursday at 17:53 Aye fair enough actually, thinking about it more, what you don't know can't hurt you. And there'd always be impatient whingers anyway so it's not like that could be avoided. Radio silence going forward then.
