Who would they be then? Milburn, Gallacher, Macdonald, Keegan, Shearer...?

Harvey, Scoular.

I'd put Aitken in. Polymath and that. Jimmy Lawrence too.

I've just had a look at his Wiki entry

I know it's a long long time ago but imagine having the run of success we had between 1905 and 1911 and he was a local lad and captain to boot.

all that, a playwright, friend of the stars, and pissed all over Ryder & co. when it comes to journalism:

Away from football, Veitch was a great lover of the arts and co-founded the People's Theatre, Newcastle upon Tyne in 1911.[3] He was also an accomplished playwright, composer, conductor and producer, and counted George Bernard Shaw amongst his circle of friends.[4]

Veitch fought in World War I and returned to Newcastle after the war.

Veitch was also very politically aware and was approached to stand as a Member of Parliament for the Labour Party. Although he turned the proposal down, he did become a union activist for the Professional Footballers' Association and was the PFA's chairman for a number of years.

After resigning from Bradford City he returned to Tyneside and became a journalist with the Evening Chronicle. In 1929 he was banned from the St James' Park press box.[4]

Right enough though, massive black and white banners of former club legends would be unbelievably good. I've always thought the exterior of SJP was a bit boring and didn't really show off the club as well as it could. Shame the current owner would never pay for such a scheme unless we agreed to have at least half the space covered in Sports Direct adverts.

Imagine the state it will be in after the weekend, man.

Aye a na, wouldn't have been much fun playing in a monsoon last night either.

Anyone know how much they're charging this time round? Think it was £70 when I played a couple of years ago, I imagine it'll be more now.

I just took this photo now...I'm not sure that bit of metal is supposed to be precariously hanging over the edge of the Milburn above a bus stop like.

I've given them a ring and they've said that they're going to send someone up to check it out. That was 10 minutes ago.
