It’s not really a realistic possibility though. We wouldn’t get away with building on that part of Leazes Park.

It feels more realistic than all the ground share suggestions I've seen like. Not necessarily because it's realistic, more that the ground share stuff sounds like pure fantasy.

Not sure out health and safety regulations are the same as Russia's when it comes to temporary stands....

Just add a couple of these bad boys to Gateshead or Kingston Park for a year when we rebuild lol

This is essentially what the London stadium is.

But pointless, there's absolutely no reason to do it that way other than it making an interesting render.

The reason is that you can stay at SJP while most of it is being built, thought that was pretty obvious like.

I genuinely can’t believe how many people think we’ll be able to play at Sunderland! Absolutely not a chance in hell that would happen! NP would laugh their heads off at the idea of 45K black and whiters going through their every fortnight! 100% never ever going to happen!

Sounds like it’s a new stadium at Castle Leazes then.

They are demolishing the student accommodation at castle leazes right now and replacing them with new buildings.

Perfect time to build a stadium next to it.

Isn't the whole point of Option C (Leazes Park), that it's phased construction so only the Leazes End would need to close?

What do other clubs normally do when they're expanding and need to close a stand?

Play at wembley?

has anyone suggesting the stadium of shite, ever been to the stadium of shite? it's fucking shite. not being dramatic but I'd rather kill myself than go there every other week

Same. Can only assume those suggesting it haven't been. It's grim. The surrounding areas are grim. The pubs are grim (not that I expect we'd be allowed in them anyway on police advice).

Fuck going there every other week.

We don't have the luxury of moving to Wembley like Spurs did and Chelsea may have to, or Rangers did with Hampden earlier in the season. If a major rebuild of SJP means playing with a severely restricted capacity for a few years I think it's a complete non starter but who knows. We only lost around 1k capacity during the rebuild from 36k to 52k and with all the advances in building technology in the 25 years since maybe there's ways around it.

You could do that by building further North/West and stay at SJP without having to demolish any of it, that's the point. There's enough room there to build a new stadium without having to encroach on the current site and without having to remove any of the main features of Leazes Park (the Bandstand, the lake etc)

My point is there is absolutely no rbenefit to building it partially on the footprint of the current stadium.

There is room to move the new stadium a bit further back (without any additional impact on Leazes Park) so we can stay at St James' while it is built, or move it even further onto Castle Leazes and have much less of an impact on Leazes Park.

I think the only reason it is shown in that way, as a phased construction, is because it makes a more interesting video.

The general feeling is that we sat on our hands and did fuck all when Ashley was dragging the club further and further into oblivion, and now we all whinge and moan like fuck when people want to stand and join in chants.

Oh and we all hate Sean Longstaff, Dan Burn and Nick Pope.

The thing is, every match thread on here is full of moaning ninnies. Are these the same people that, were they in the ground, would be singing their hearts out for ninety minutes? That doesn’t particularly track for me.

They aren’t, plenty of our members are season ticket holders.

What we don’t like is the season ticket holders who sat there and had a go at fans who protested against Ashley, many of which are from this forum. They said to support the team, not the regime, yet say there is silence and never supporters the team. They are also very much against doing anything to SJP, because they have their season tickets, so fuck everyone else.

On top of this they like to take credit for Wor flags etc, forgetting that Wor Flags stopped flag displays whilst Ashley was there, because some people who were in it, gave up their season tickets.

Anyway, no one is against the season ticket holders, but there is some season ticket holders out there who like to play super fan, and do so by causing division in our support by having a go at none season ticket holders and/or those who protested.

Absolutely none of that chimes with any of my experiences, but okay.

The wor flags folk presumably are season ticket holder aren’t they? And, besides, there’s people in the world who are….falsely claiming to be behind flag displays in football grounds? Really? Are you sure?

I get your point although I do think there is benefit in staying closer to SJP and limit the impact on the area. Just went searching for some original posts post takeover from Ponsaelius and saw that we've had this exact conversation before.

I don't think that would work, it would still massively impact on the setting of Leazes Terrace, it would have a more significant impact on Leazes park than the Castle Leazes site, which is Listed and a fundamental element of the significance of the Conservation Area, and would be hugely disruptive to the club to build. All for the sake of being slightly closer to the existing site.

Aye, we all just want Miggy to put in one cross with his right before he leaves. Until then blood vessels will continue to burst.

Is it true about the contact?

Next head meeting in December so hoping to find out something then. I’d be surprised if it isn’t true but as of end of May hadn’t head anything. I’ll maintain though the last people standing in the way of a new stadium/expansion would be the Freeman.
