Do you think making up ground on Man United or Spurs' matchday revenue, let alone Chelsea, Man City or Liverpool's is going to be the silver bullet? And in the process of trying to get there, you lose SJP. It's just such a baseless argument that moving stadium is needed for PSR imo.

Surprised how low Arsenal are there. Feels like they were the first to make big strides, and over time, the others have overtaking them. 2028 when they can change up kit and stadium sponsor, so assume a big leap will be incoming then, and Chelsea will be seeking one too (still have no sponsor :D ).

So that gap only going to get even bigger to us whilst we stand still. Should be a regular top 8 side, that may have the occasional run to top 4/5 if the cards are good for us that season, but going to lose players to keep that position and never ever have any hope of making a serious play.

Spurs are tragic for where their club is though.

We have to compete off the pitch as well

as on .

This basically, and I always assumed that was the whole purpose of us backing a takeover by PIF (or at least for those of us who did). One of the reasons why I think being able to invest unhindered on building a world class team is as important as stadiums, sponsorships and the rest of it. Without winning you don't build the global brand which brings in all the big money. The cartel clubs know this, that is why they have spent so much time and effort blocking any route for us including spending £millions on legal fees.

I do realise that some fans don't want us to be global players and are happy with our local feel. I respect that, just don't agree.

Can't speak for everyone obviously, but that's not it for me. It's more that this assertion that we need to build a new stadium if we want to become a global player is a fallacy basically.

I want us to be global players, I just don't want to see us abandon SJP solely to comply with fucking ridiculous deliberately anticompetitive financial regulations that might be legally dismantled before the last bit of smoked glass goes into the new stadium, before the go kart track has even been slid out on its new castors. I just don't buy the New Stadium Will Fix Everything scenario.

I'm one of the fortunate ones who took out the 10 year deal and I'm only paying £294 for level 7 for each of my 2 tickets. When my daughter turned 21 the club told me I'd have to move or buy another child ticket so I bought one for my grandson 4 months prior to takeover which costs £86. Prior to the '10 year deal' which I think is in its 14th year now I took out the 3 year pay up front offer which reduced ticket prices by 30% and before that the 20% reduction by committing to 3 years of renewals. I am fully aware that my ticket costs will at least double and maybe more so, but just feel really fortunate that I have the tickets secured for my daughter and grandson, whatever the cost is. Whether we stay or move the ride we are on is worth every penny. The euphoria when we win something that I can share in the moment with two different generations of my family is priceless.

I love St James and have so many memories but the first time I walk in to the new stadium and feel 5 years old again will be off the stratosphere. I took my daughter to the opening of Wembley in 2007 and she ended up on the front cover of the daily mirror which create an everlasting memory, but to walk into a new stadium with potentially 80000 fellow Newcastle fans will be a memory I will cherish, alongside our Caribou Cup win in 2025, till my dying day.

To me football is not only about the present and future, but the lifelong memories created along the way. I have loads of wonderful St James Park memories, but I'm happy to create new ones in Leazes Park. I was at the Stack night on Wednesday and the location was described as not to far to snap an elastic band so that can only mean Leazes Park. We should all get behind the move and create as many memories as we can to share with as many people as possible.

Unbelievably this was over 17 tears ago and she still comes with me. I just love it, love it!!

Lets have loads of seats and create as many memories to share with those closest to us.

We should all be behind this. We all have tremendous memories of the Keegan days, Man U, Barcelona, Tiote's equaliser, PSG etc and they won't fade. But the creation of new ones, in hopefully the best stadium on the planet whilst walking post Eddie's statue every matchday as the first manager to win a trophy, will be equally exciting. Bring it on.

Have reason to believe Castle Leazes will be remaining as grazing land. Would be very surprised if this as an option now.

Maybe there's some truth to Gosforth.

Gosforth? What have I missed?

Well I was assuming planning restrictions would always prevent us from expanding the stadium much beyond 60k if that. If the big players are talking 70/80k capacities we need to match that otherwise we are always going to be a step behind. Although if there's other ways around that then I'm always open to it. Leazes Park was always my preferred option, how feasible that is I don't know.

I think it depends what you mean. As I was saying I think the PSR/always a step-behind argument is a bit of a non-starter. If the argument is just that you want 75 or 80k in the ground then I get that like, I would think SJP won't be able to go beyond 65K although personally I think that's about the sweet spot.

So how would you make up the shortfall in matchday revenue compared to clubs with 70/80k capacities?

This Spurs fan is realising that. At least they can host NFL and have an on site micro brewery, though.

Sponsorships and better players trading. Not fleecing fans. Plus, only Man Utd have that capacity bracket you've mentioned in the league.

I wouldn't basically, it's peanuts. I'd focus on lobbying against or waiting out PSR so that we can increase our commercial revenue and then use that as the means to spend and grow. But there are other options as well with more 'legit' sponsorship or through buying and selling players.

Would be different if they were good.

Same as when players are "likeable" when teams win and not so much when they're not.

One way of looking at this and it's the way I look at it, is if PIF leave down the line and haven't got us a new stadium, would the new owners be able to build anything like what PIF would likely do.

Could be a one off opportunity to build a beast of a stadium and kick on to bigger things.

This is a key point when thinking about either the stadium or training ground. A state of the art training ground and an updated/expanded/new stadium would protect NUFC and its place in the game for decades. It would greatly increase the level at which the club is self-sustaining both in terms of revenue and competitiveness, which means it wouldn't matter (as much) if PIF sells up or the PL loses its luster resulting in massive TV revenue declines.
