Is that the level of football we are allowed to move into by the PL?  7-10th then.

The comment of "next level of football" was meant as how the premier league is morphing into something else, being driven by the so call top 6.  Not league positions.

Shilton in goal ?

Yep, that was it, I stood in Gallowgate scoreboard. Had forgotten about Shilton playing that night. Did a search and Dean Saunders was also playing. Amazed to see that someone has put the match highlights on YouTube.

Yeah, I have mentioned this many times on here, but new mega stadiums will soon be the norm in the Premier League, and I think it will lead to closer league.

The American owners want it, and people financing these stadiums will want it, and the finances raised through these stadiums will create it as other clubs won’t be able to compete.

Fairly audible applause for their first goal, feel like thats something that wouldn't happen now, maybe it was just because nobody was that arsed about that cup!

Think that was the case, it was nothing more than a fixture filler and was fairly short-lived.

Well the American investors can get to fuck

I’d rather watch the local under 10’s play swarmball with jumpers for goalposts than some dogshit cheesy American version of the beautiful game

Football has already been Americanised far too much and if they want to take it further into American sports territory they can fuck right off, the cunts

Seemingly fuck all we can do because they're by and large good old white men.

Was at the Derby ZDS game also in the Gallowgate scoreboard with a mate and his dad after thinking about never coming back at the previous home game and supporting Whitley Bay (who beat Preston the same day) instead.

Applause for good goals by opposition was still a thing then regardless of the meaningless of that cup. The above rearranged Oxford game and Paul Simpson's goal and Tommy Wright's for Leicester around the same time getting that treatment.

Wasn't at the game but its clear on the coverage David Hirst scores a great goal for Sheffield Wed in what was basically a relegation six-pointer which we were on the short straw of and was still applauded.

Think Recoba was probably the last time it happened.

Aye it's probably just time playing tricks on the memory. Looking back there was some horrific midweek games atmosphere wise. Cambridge at home with 13k there. Southend at home that same season they didn't even bother opening the Leazes End that night and the season before when we played Oxford midweek the crowd was 10k. I was sat in the benches and a mate from school was stood directly opposite in the Milburn Paddocks. He shouted over at me and I could hear him [emoji38]

I stood on the paddock towards the Gallowgate for 90% of the 90/91 and season and you could hear the smattering of away fans from the likes of Oxford (not going OTT to say a mini bus worth) doing their naff little cheerleader chant "give us an o" "O!" thing from about as far away from them as you could get.

Pre Keegan was probably only Swindon in the league that decade that was a good midweek atmosphere. FA Cup games were good though.

We could amend the taxes on football clubs and make them pay against the asset rather than profits.  It’s rich old white cunts kryptonite - they’d be off as quick as a flash.

So anything happening?  We seem to get a flurry of stories about a new stadium and then it all goes quiet.  Rinse and repeat.

Decision will be made In the new year they have promised to consult the fans. I expect concrete news in q1 personally.
