I wasn’t suggesting they would by the way.

Was more of a PIF project that’s independent from the football club.

I suggested this as a possibility months ago. I’m sure there is some tenuous links already to PIF/Reubens in the development after it stall.

If PIF did step in and build it through the club, could we then flog it in a few years for PSR?

I know UEFA don’t permit that income so might be a moot point anyway.

I think it’s largely irrelevant if we build the stadium as revenues will rocket, particularly commercial income.

Wouldn't be the first time it has been suggested. This article is from 1996 . . .

St James Park 1996 Plans - Gateshead (2).jpg

putting aside which bank of the river it's on, i always fuckin loved that bonkers mad design. like somebody asked t. dan smith to sort the city out with a new cathedral. you'd think even the seats would've been concrete. imagine how rough it'd look by now, thirty years down the line..

And it is as stupid an idea today as it was then.  Moving the club to a different town shouldn’t even be a point of discussion.

Wouldn’t bother me in the slightest if that was the specific location. Rather there than completely out of the way at the coast or airport for example.

The coast isn’t Newcastle either tbf.  I’d rather stay put if the option was a move to Gateshead.

It is. Don’t let the gerrymandering of the local councils in the 70’s distract you from the fact that places like Whitley Bay are Newcastle suburbs.

It’s going to be a goal kick from the current ground. I vote for St James’s Park.

Patron saint of Newcastle is St Nicholas.

For those of a certain age, referring to it as St Nick’s would be apt.  Madhouse it has been/no doubt will be.

Quote

He may have attended the first Council of Nicaea (325), where he allegedly struck the heretic Arius in the face.

Nicholas’s reputation for generosity and kindness gave rise to legends of miracles he performed for the poor and unhappy. He was reputed to have given marriage dowries of gold to three girls whom poverty would otherwise have forced into lives of prostitution and to have restored to life three children who had been chopped up by a butcher and put in a tub of brine.

Kind to poor lasses, clips wankers and loves stuff the butcher threw out.  Sounds like our sort
