Jewell: NUFC 'not coming back' for Giles Barnes

Recommended Posts

COme on as a sub tonight and went off injured 15 minutes later!

Are you sure because BBC said he came on in the 83rd minute and completed the game?

I was there...

Really, because Sky are also reporting that he came on in the 83rd minute and no talk of him coming off:

Just got back in 5 minutes ago mate, he came off with what looked like an ankle injury. Trust me, I'm ITK...

GAFFER ON BARNES BIDS

Posted on: Wed 30 Jan 2008

Paul Jewell is pleased Newcastle United are playing hard-ball over their bid for Giles Barnes.

After Wednesday night's 1-1 home draw against Manchester City - during which Barnes was used as a late substitute - the Derby boss told RamsWorld: "We have rejected Newcastle's offer for Giles because it was derogatory. They tell us they won't be coming back and I'm delighted about that.

this kid can do things which our players could not even dream about

Like what?

Have you seen him play bonny lad cos i have twice against the mackems last season and against us and he was the best player on the pitch on both occasions (second half sub against mackems and changed the game and scored a goal beardsley would have been proud of ).other times i have seen him he has stood out and its all about opinions so whats yours son .

Seen him this season against Derby.

All I want to know is what he can do that our players can only dream about - simple.

Quit it with the 'bonny lad' and 'son' malarkey as well.

I am pretty sure this one will go through. Mort and Ashley are playing hardball like they did over Dyer.

Don't think it will, think it's dead in the water.

We won't get anyone in at all, if we do it'll probably be a free like we've done before

If we really think he's good enough for our squad - and we must do otherwise why make a bid - we'll pay £3m. Nowt wrong with trying to get him cheaper though which would explain the take it or leave it attitude.
