And joining him in the forward line is Lee Kerr, currently on trial with the Magpies from Northern League outfit Whitley Bay. Newcastle line up as follows: Fraser Forster, Chris Shanks, Phil Cave, Kris Gate, Callum Morris, Alex Francis, James Troisi, Matty Pattison, Lee Kerr, Albert Luque, Alan O'Brien. Subs: Kazenga LuaLua, Ryan Donaldson, Mark Doninger, Andy Carroll, Mark Bertram Playere in Bold have played with our first team this season Lee Kerr is starting the game as part of his trial.. Lee Clark started with the Jarrow-born striker alongside Spaniard Albert Luque in attack. Kerr had an early chance to impress when Alan O'Brien whipped over a left-wing cross, but the 19-year-old could only flash a diving header wide of Ian Walker's goal from the penalty spot. Luque and Kerr then combined in the 28th minute to release the young trialist, but again he was unable to make his mark and poked wide of the target from just inside the area. And the Whitley Bay frontman was again in the thick of the action on 31 minutes, latching onto a loose ball 25 yards out following a crunching tackle from Luque on David Thompson, the forward spinning before sending a shot just inches wide of Bolton's goal. But the hosts were lucky not to go in behind after a goalmouth scramble on the stroke of half-time. Andranik miscontrolled on the edge of the six-yard box, and as it looked certain to fall to Idan Tal unmarked on the far post, Fraser Forster managed to get a fist on the ball only for Tal to fire back across goal before Callum Morris scrambled behind. And it was Bolton who almost drew first blood after the break, Blazej Augustyn cutting in from the left and sending a right-foot drive towards goal which Forster dived low to keep out. Half-time introduction Andy Carroll should have opened the scoring 15 minutes into the second period, but the 18-year-old forward headed wide when unmarked from 12 yards after connecting with Chris Shanks' centre. Portuguese forward Vaz Te was guilty of missing an equally gilt-edged opportunity when he weakly headed over from just six yards after Thompson chipped in from the right in the 72nd minute. And it was Kerr could have won it late on with a spectacular overhead effort from the edge of Bolton's area, but Walker was equal to it and the visitors held out for a point.
