And yet the main problem with Duff is that he's been trying to do too much on his own all season. What chance does he have? Our left backs never overlap or support properly. Most of the time he's having to help them out defensively because they're actually teenage CBs playing in a position they don't know well. No-one moves to give him options, no-one else bloody well creates anything so he tries to do too much on his own and fails. His movement is good and clever, just no-one else is moving to help him out. And he's still got a fair bit of pace.

Absolutely right. I think he has struggled for fitness as well, but in the last few games he's looked a lot sharper and has often been getting past his man or winning a free kick.

But ultimately yes, he's ending up in static situations where he's having to try to create something on his own.

Duff is a very, very good player. His ability hasn't disappeared as a result of Mourinho or anything else. It's still there for anyone to see. But you have to a) look at the way he's playing now, not the way he was playing when he first came, and b) look at the context in which he's having to play.

Duff hasn't shown the ability you mention often enough, he spends as much time on his arse as he does on his feet.  He's looked better in his last couple of games, that's beyond doubt, he still hasn't been good enough.

What do you expect duff to do when he's playing with handicapped players who can't even pass a f****** ball to an open man.

Chlesea managed to win the title with handicapped players when Duff was there? Amazing.

If by handicapped players you mean Terry, Lampard, then yes.

I mean comparing the likes of parker, bramble, to terry and lampard, that's really saying something.

proof is in the pudding....

we have a team of under acheivers and were going south in the league. Yet again.

make excuses for poor form or realise we have s**te individual team members.

simple as that.

He's still playing pretty poorly, just less utter shite.

  • 1 year later...

Waste of oxygen.

Was obvious from his final season at Chelsea just how shit he'd be.

And I bet you he is going to be the primary reason for us losing Zog should Charles decide to leave. Not only is N'Zogbia most likely being paid peanuts in comparison to the waster that is Duff, Duff most likely has alot of pull with other senior players at the club and probably some of the staff too. They probably consider him to be a top class player still, a slightly slower but more experienced version of the £17m Duff that Chelsea purchased in yesteryear. I bet you this is like the same situation that many of us see every day at work or even in school - the boss' cocksucker or teacher's pet who is actually shit at what they do but loved by those that matter within the organisation because they're the biggest cocksucking cuntflap the place has ever seen.

Confidence player lacking any to make him look at least average. Duff will only start to look good in a team of better confident players to work around him and bring the best out of him.

He doesnt have the legs or skill anymore to create space for himself or the team. We dont have anyone else capable of making that space in the team leaving our midfield and strikers suffocated game after game.

Just wont work with the team we have and he isnt good near good enough to carry it. Best getting rid in January.

Expect him to work nicely at Celtic where he has a lower calibre of opposition to make him look good, lets pray they might be interested in doing business.

Personally don't buy that, because he was just as s*** for title winning Chelsea in his last season there. Practically no different to what he is right now - same Duff, same performances, but those performances were just hidden in a top class side. Noone will moan about a squad player doing f*** all except working hard when the team is galloping to the title.
