So looks like Zoggy is off in the summer.

What to do about the left side?

I can't see Luque staying either and Duff would then be our only specialist. If we get good money, most will be unhappy if a fair chunk isn't spent on the def ie Looks like we'll need at least one £5m+ CD to take control of the middle and play with Taylor etc..And we deffo need a left back.

If money is tight we will probably have to carry the RB postion and rotate Solano/Hunty etc there. Letting Zoggy go we are creating a problem without a guarantee of an easy replacement (of similar quality) we currently don't have. Admittedly the blow will be softened if we get £7m plus for him which is imo his real value..(see Spuds season and a half attempt and failure to get a good lefty).

This a headache we don't need.

why does it look like he's off? I've heard no noise from the club, articles, anything. I'm in the dark on this one.

Well for a start he's realised Duff is GR's No.1 regardless of form...and recently he hasn't even made the bench. Also the rumours of training ground unhapiness between manager and player and the fact Wenger wants him. End of story really.

Duff has been one of out best players in our last 2 games so for me obviously Zog is 2nd choice. As for him going I doubt it as Roeder won't let him go as he knows it will give him another position to fill.

If that's the end of the story then he's still here. Huzzah!

Fancy a virtual £5 on it 9?

Make that a virtual £500

i don't believe even Roeder is that daft.. but it wouldn't surprise me if Zog told his agent to look for alternatives cause i believe he can get better opportunities and better training elsewhere

ego on legs.. who fucking isn't?

This thread has nothing. He's still probably shaking off his Dads death tbh. I was a bit miffed when my Dad died like.

tbh he's not that good. Has his moments but if we sold him for an inflated price ie the £7 mill P mentioned and got Jinky Johnson in for say £1.5 mill I would be very happy as we'd have the new Waddle on our books.

I couldn't at 25 be able to deal with that happen to me.

His dad died nearly 18 months ago.

18 years of a father then none, i know people at older ages not getting over their parents deaths for much longer than that.

Its not like he lost his cat you know.

Old article, but worthy of a recap:

Charles N'Zogbia makes his first appearance of the year at St James' Park in tomorrow's derby game with Middlesbrough - with Glenn Roeder insisting he is the future of Newcastle United.

The 21-year-old Frenchman came on as a sub at Wigan on Sunday after recovering from what he describes as "the worst injury of my career " against Chelsea in December.

And no sooner was N'Zogbia back in a black-and-white shirt then talk re-surfaced of just how much Arsene Wenger would love him to add him to the French contingent at Arsenal.

But Roeder insisted today: "I will treat any talk of Charles going to Arsenal - or anywhere else for that matter - with utter contempt.

"He is the future of Newcastle United and, take it from me, he is going to be here for a very long time.

"We are trying to build a good squad of young players here and I intend to keep my best players. Charles N'Zogbia is one of them.

"And we have seen nowhere near the best of him yet."

N'Zogbia goes into tomorrow's match without a goal this season - and knowing that his last goal was in the derby match at Sunderland last April.

Indeed, Roeder has had a poor return from his left flank this season, with only Damien Duff's goal in the win at West Ham coming from here.

N'Zogbia is the current North East Young Player of the Year, but there is no doubt he has been badly affected by the death of his father in France and the departure of his mentor Jean Alain Boumsong to Juventus.

But Roeder believes that N'Zogbia has found more inner strength and maturity as he has recovered from his knee injury.

The United boss added: "This has been a disappointing season for Charles because of his injury and that fact that he has been in competition with Damien Duff on the left wing.

"That's why it is important that he finishes the season strongly.

"That was a nasty injury he got at Chelsea, but he has worked hard to get fit again and the 30-minute blow-out he had at Wigan puts him in contention for tomorrow.

"Don't forget he is still only 20 and that a lot has happened to him in a short space of time.

"He's one of those players who says very little at the training ground but he is starting to come out of his shell."

With GR record of transfer marker U-turns, that's pretty much case closed. blueyes.gif

This thread has nothing.

If we let him go without a fight and just because we let him think he's a long term number two... then we are complete morons.

Did he sign the new contract?

Yes

You 100% sure?

He was meant to sign a 3 yr extension at the end of last season...I think he did sign.

There was lots of talk of it offered, that its was going to be signed, then nothing, and IIRC its been asked here before and no definitive answer was ever concluded.

Since Com (the new cock) has him as retained until 09, it suggests the new 3 year extension wasn't signed doesn't it? As an 09 finish would of meant he was already out in 06 when he was supposed to signt he 3 year, which we all know he wasn't ???
