Should have been given a 12 month contract imo. Seen his positioning, lack of pace, inability to concentrate, inability to read the game, stand and ball watch??? jesus. Any ex-pro who's seen us a bit and has been asked, has said that Taylor can be a great player; ask them about Shambles, and they seem to snigger. Mowen
Pav, send Krul on loan so he can get regular football. need three keepers on the books Interesting idea. Also, don't remember who said it, but I'd be absolutely amazed if Bramble was on a 'reported' £50kpw. Where the fuck has that even been reported?! Would be surprised if he was on as much as 20, but that's still too much.

Mowen
Fuck me. Hope that isn't true, I've certainly never read it anywhere. If I did, I must have punched myself in the head repeatedly until I forgot it, which isn't entirely implausible given the distressing nature of receiving such a piece of news. Leazes1986
None. Bramble's never gonna be a good Premiership defender, Gooch didn't show much at all, Bernard's finished, Moore's too slow and injury prone, and Pav frightened the hell out of me when we played Bolton away. toontownman
none of the above, its a new start and the dead wood has to go.
toptoon
Pav - Not needed, we have Given, Harper and Krul Titus - Good riddance! Moore - Injury prone, wanted to leave. Gooch - Not given a propper chance, but surely Sam is allowed to bring in his own. Olly - the invisible man. Well said again!!
Minhosa
Its difficult to say whether I would've kept any of them on when we don't know who the replacements are going to be (or indeed if Big Sam gets the faces he wants through the door). If he doesn't we might be criticising him for letting 3 centre backs go. That said, I'm sure he will. I think its a shame Gooch went without a good run in the side nor a regular partner when he did play. Whilst he didn't look a world beater he didn't look dreadful and with the time to acclimatise to the Premier League he could have established himself as a decent partner to an experienced centre back along side. As for Bramble, I would've been interested to see what Allardyce could've done with him at Bolton and that still stands now that he's at the Toon. There's no question he's had plenty of time to sort out his toddler-like concentration though, so fair do's.

He's a manager not a miracle worker.
Guest toon tone rudeboy
Agreed with the above. Gooch wasn't given a proper chance and he was stuck with a different partner every match. Hardly enough to make a proper decision. But the decision had to be made by Sam and I doubt he even bothered to look at a player we had on loan... But I would have liked to have had Onyewu on the back of the new shirt...
Raconteur
Pav, send Krul on loan so he can get regular football. need three keepers on the books Yup - I said Pav too... It's more important for a young keeper to play and develop at a lower level than kicking his heels in the reserves hoping he gets a shot in the first team through injury. Plus I heard Pav did some good mentoring of young keepers at Beira-Mar (though I also heard he's done some shite mentoring at the Toon!) I was also one of the people who voted for Moore - yes he's always injured, and yes he may spend too much time in Scotland, but he's a decent backup defender on a pay-as-you-play basis. Guest Armchair Pundit
Depending on how much they would have wanted for the Gooch I might have considered keeping him and seeing what he could do with some decent coaching. Titus was well past being given yet another chance.
Leazes1986
As much as we love Pav we can't be sentimental here. We can easily find an adequate 3rd choice keeper and allow Krul to go out on loan. Its not as if our 3rd choice keeper is gonna be used at all next season. This season was just a freak season. I think the best thing we could do is get a decent 3rd choice keeper who knows that he is only here as backup, and loan Krul out next season and see how he does. If he is playing at League One level next season then if he does great he can move onto the Championship the year after. Same goes for if he's playing in the Championship next season then if he does well then maybe a Premiership club will take a gamble with him the year after. I think everyone needs to get Palermo out of their heads though. He was absolutely brilliant that night but i've seen people on here say he will be one of the best keepers in europe in a few years. He's only young and 2 years out on loan will do him the world of good. Forget keeping him for the bench here for now. Maybe a few years out on loan then a year as Given's understudy then he can think about first team football here.
Yorkie
I'm just relieved that Bramble has gone. It's shite like Bramble, who people have rested all of their hopes on because there is ability somewhere there, but ultimately wasted all their energy on because he was never going to change. If he was going to fulfil his potential, he would have done it before he was 25/26, or atleast shown that he can consistently do it. Three managers have laid their hopes on him, two of which specialised in defensive play, and none of them could sort him out. He had to go so that we could move forward. To keep him on would have shown a serious lack of ambition. Same goes for the rest of them. Moore - injury prone and never really good enough anyway. Just don't think he could have given two shits either, tbh. Onyewu - unfortunately for him, simply didn't have the ability, which was a shame because he had the physique. Bernard and Pav? Jesus H Christ. Well done, Sam.

Cajun
Bramble - On too good a wage for a 4th choice defender. Gooch - Wasn't even as good as Titus imo so no point spending a fee on him. Pav - Not good enough. Moore - Too injury prone Bernard - Shame because I really like him but it would have been a joke if we kept him on.

Yorkie
And I'm not having people voting for Pav without explaining why........................... Keep him on as a goalkeeper coach ? Why? He came from the Portuguese third division or whatever. He was like any other keeper from that standard - why should he be a good coach? The only reason why we brought him back was because he was Pav.
Guest Mantis
I wouldnt have kept any, and I dare say the decision on Bramble was made some time ago in reality. The sad thing is people still think a bit of coaching might improve him. He is as s*** today as he was when he arrived and his departure is the best news I have heard in the 5 yrs he's been here. The rest dont really warrant a mention. Nobody will care less about Moore when he's p!ssed his career earnings up a wall.
gazza ladra
None of the above. The best option for the both the club and the players across the board. Bramble is not going to succeed here. (Probably won't succeed anywhere, but definitely not here.)A new club and some new fans will do him good. And he makes too much money Onyewu is not good enough to start. He needs to go somewhere where he will play. Others should retire
