Guest sicko2ndbest
Newcastle-bound Round Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce is set to appoint England coach Steve Round as his number two. Allardyce has been busily attempting to recruit his backroom staff since replacing Glenn Roeder at St James' Park, and finally appears to have made a breakthrough. Round was England boss Steve McClaren's coach at Middlesbrough and later joined him in the international set-up shortly after Gareth Southgate's appointment at the Riverside Stadium. Nigel Pearson, who took charge of the Magpies' final game of last season at Watford, was installed as Roeder's assistant following Kevin Bond's premature departure from St James' Park. Dragon55544
The appointment of Round coincides with the arrival of performance director Mike Forde and head of sports science Mark Taylor, who are also set to be on board. This is great news imo.
Guest guyb
As one who sat through many a turgid, safety-first peformance under Maclaren - congrats, you've just appointed the snore-cerors apprentice.

NSG
Whether it remains to be seen how good he is, it's excellent news to see the appointment of an assistant made. It's another piece of the Jigsaw in place.

Guest johnson293
Pearson may stay on as a coach with a view to joining up with the U-21's permanently in the (near) future with Pearce?
Greg
The Magpies boss told nufc.co.uk: "We have been talking to Steve Round about coming in and working alongside Nigel Pearson as a first team coach, and those talks are ongoing."

Thespence
Apart from Round, has someone else joined our backroom team with Boro connections?
