Hopefully more signings will sort that out.

Babayaro could come good not sure. Carr looks even worse at LB. Edgar however, has played well at LB, against Bolton and Man Utd need I remind you of the outstanding performance he put in against United?

Yes, he was good in both games, but he lacked positional sense and is not good enough on the ball for a LB, especially not if we're playing 4-3-
Guest jamesmartinsmith
I suppose you have a good point there. Edgar should develop in his natural position. Sam Allardyce has confirmed that he is searching for a new left-back, even if the Newcastle boss insists Celestine Babayaro still has a future in the North East. http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=475043&CPID=8&clid=4&lid=3&title=Big+Sam+on+the+defensive

Dr. Nguyen Van Falk
Sigh and you just go along with the crowd. Type in Joey Barton on google and see where his natural postition is. Love how having the same opinion as the majority is classed as going with the crowd You candle. And he's a CM, more box to box. He can play Dm but he isn't a DM, the same way Given could play right back but he isn't one... That's like saying I can play LB for newcastle but I don't. Your point is like saying anyone can play anywhere which is true. But my point was Joey Barton can play defensive midfielder quite well. BTW in hinduism Deep means light so the candle theme is quite clever. No, you said he IS a DM. As it's his natural position. You can check like FM if you must. That comfirms my thoughts... Cronky
............Given Carr....Rozenhal....Taylor....Duff Dyer.....Geremi....Barton....Milner ..........Viduka.....Owen Not absolutely sure that Geremi has played CM, but he looks like he could. I've got a feeling him and Barton would work well together. Tempted by this as a front six though - Barton....Geremi....Emre ........Dyer..... Milner .............Viduka

Guest Toonie
Given Geremi Rozehnal Taylor Dyer Barton Emre Milner N'Zogbia Owen Viduka/Martins Im curious how the Owen/ Martins partnership would work, logic says it wouldn't but Yorke and Cole at Man U wern't the biggest of fellows. I figure now that having a back 3 of solid defenders is better than putting bab's in and having a hole in the team
toontownman
If the Big Sammy Baby is thinking about Dyer for a Right Wing Back role I dont see why N'Zogbia wouldnt be considered for the opposite side. Personally I wouldnt want either in those roles, but it might work. HOME: Given Geremi Taylor Rozehnal Baba Dyer Barton Emre/N'Zog Owen Martins/Luque Viduka AWAY Given Geremi Taylor Rozehnal Baba Butt/New DM Barton Emre Owen Milner/duff Viduka All these formations will change when we have finished our spending though. Ikon
Im quite sure that it would be stupid to play Owen Viduka Martins in the same formation..at least in most formations imo...

Guest
GK - Given RB - Geremi LB - Babayaro CB - Taylor CB - Rozehnal RM - Milner LM - N'Zogbia CM - Barton CM - Emre CF - Owen CF - Viduka Harper, Ramage (simply for the fact he's our only other centre-half at the moment), Solano, Dyer, Martins. Back end of the 1996-7 season, in home matches Dalglish dropped Gillespie, Ginola & Beardsley, went with a midfield three of Elliott, Batty & Lee, picked Ferdinand, Asprilla & Shearer up front, and it was the difference between finishing 2nd and finishing 4th.
