Think he meant: find one with prem experience who is available and good enough for the team.

Firstly - Deco: <snigger>

Secondly - no-one good enough for the team??? HE'S  BEEN PLAYING CARR!!! f****** Carr!!! If he can't find anyone better than THAT, he's a worse manager than i thought. And f*** Premiership experience, a new player has only got to replace f****** CARR!!

Agreed.

The worrying thing is Allardyce seems to rate Carr in my opinion which isn't good news for us.

hasn't done anything blatantly wrong so far... but you just know he'll do something stupid.  (carr, just so it's clear)

he was s**** against Villa, and THEY were pretty poor. As he did whenever he's played for us in the past, he'll get raped off decent teams.

Tbf he just didn't have the pace.. Anyway listen i'm not saying he's a good player, he's not, just saying his form has been good.. i would love to have carr sidelined as much as anyone;  i've just said though that there arn't any PL right-backs available, that's  why he's looking abroad. No team is going to sell us their good right-backs (ideally we should be getting first team regulars) with so little time left to find a replacement.

his form has not been good - i draw your attention to the Villa game, m'lud.

You can't use that game mind, nobody played particularly well.

Eh? HE was not very good - you can't say he's been in good form if he's played badly.

So anybody actually think Faye will be a first teamer?

Geremi, Butt, Barton and Emre are all midfielders who sit deep.

Taylor, Rozenhal, and Cacapa in defense.

Me. Faye is better than Butt, Emre has sat back for us in the past but that's probably why he's been so bad - we need him higher up the pitch, Barton doesn't sit deep at all, and Geremi is more of a water carrier than a holding player.

I would play a midfield 3 of Faye, with Geremi and Barton ahead of him.

Emre doesn't, Smith has done.

geremi is going to get played no matter what, despite being out wrost midfielder on Saturday.

Emre always sits deep, way to deep. You never see him playing off the front two.

Viana did a similar thing when he played, they sit deep to try and dictate the play. Neither are remotely holding midfielders though. It just creates a huge gap behind the the front players.

I think this may have been something to do with Roeder, I remember him saying he saw Emre as more of a defensive player than Parker.

I know, but Allardyce has said ever since he's got Rozehnal, that he'd hoped to play the guy sparingly at first, and give him the odd game (presumably eventually lining him up as a number one centre-back). Faye is someone that he knows inside out, is probably very eager to get and will be chuffed if he does so; plus he was one of Bolton's best players last season and first choice centre-back alongside Ben Haim. He might not go straight into the team, but he very easily could do.

I reckon we're going to see Taylor at RB, Caçapa and Roz in the centre with the Bull at LB. Faye, Carr and Zog being the main back ups.

I agree, but Faye will probably be ahead of Cacapa until he's got a bit more match practice.

I rekon Faye will start more often than not. Think about it:

- he has prem experience

- is big and strong

- SA is already a huge fan

He is the exact type of player SA said he was looking to bring in at the start of the summer. Expect him to start. Where he starts is another question though  ???

Carr is the odd man out currently, as NSG alluded to. If we don't get a specialist RB then one of the centre-halves will play there ahead of the portly Irishman. I'd assume that all of them could play there to a good level.

I reckon Faye'll start a lot too - Rozenhal looks good but likes to drop-off / sweep. Cacapa I haven't seen a lot of but he didn't look that tall for a Premier League centre-half when he came on as a sub on Saturday. Taylor often likes to drop off deep too. Often too deep imo and I think he needs to be the central defender who attacks the ball mostly, if he's going to fulfill his potential. I don't think he has the class / ability to read the game to 'sweep'. Faye is an agressive type of defender who will attack the ball though.

Taylor impressed there in his first season. I know he's best at CB, but I also know he's a better full back than Carr, and that Faye and Roz are better centre backs than Carr is a full back: bound to improve the team. I can only assume Cacapa is, having never seen him play.

If we get him i wouldn't be at all surprised if he went straight in alongside Taylor.

Straight in where? The reserves? :coolsmiley:
