Faye signs three year deal

Do you not think in that case we'd be looking at a right-sided midfielder, or attacking midfielder rather than another defensive-midfielder who can play full-back?

Couldn't Smith be classes as a right sided/attacking midfielder who's covering DM because we haven't got anyone else fit?

I think Diarra's young enough to potentially play further up the field, he's only had to play at right-back for Chelsea because that's where they've been extremely thin. He looks a good enough player to play in a more advanced role, to me. When you consider the formation we look to be playing and the fact that Big Sam sees Martins as the RW/RM/RF (whatever you want to call it) as well as having Milner who could play there (as well as Owen and Smith?)

I know we're not exactly short of central options either, but I don't see why we have to sign an attacking midfielder to replace Solano, who himself is a RB/RM (Smith's already replaced Dyer.)

I'm tired out as well and this is getting confusing, but my basic point is that Diarra is so young/versatile he doesn't really have a position yet, nobody has said he can't play further upfield and that if we're replacing Solano we don't necessarily need to replace him with an attacking winger/midfielder when we have so many forward options anway.

Aye, sort of my point as well. It's Solano that we'd be replacing, not Dyer, and we're already loaded with attacking options.

Diarra seems a very "Allardyce" sort of player, and the aforementioned Geremi/N'Zogbia links would work in our favour, I know that if we got him I'd be fucking delighted. Faye and Diarra in, even with Dyer and Solano out, still keeps the squad looking very, very strong.

We would still be lacking a quality "specialist" right-back, though, and proper cover for left-back, but that's being extremely picky.

I'll just leave it tonight by saying Carr is fat.

Seconded. And he's been nowhere near as good as people are saying he has.

Blinded by his previous shite, if you ask me.

IF we are going to splash the cash, i mentioned Micah Richards the other day. We might have some unsettling to do though.

We've got more chance of signing Gary Neville tbh.

We always say this but i'm talking stupid money here. 20m ish

Wouldn't buy his laces. :huff:

What about Eboue. He might be available considering they've just replaced him with whatshisface. Can't think of anyone else in the premiership. Apart from Danny Mills. Who is shite.

Eboue would be quality.

Eboue is Arsenal's first choice right winger now with Hleb playing behind the striker

Is this guy actually good, or just a mediocre to make up the numbers?

Ive never seen him - or never noticed him rather

Can't say I've really noticed him either, though I rarely see Bolton play. He's versatile, but what's his best/preferred position?

Mainly played centre-half last season, but was originally a defensive midfielder. Can also play right-back.

I think this "best position" thing is something that Big Sam doesn't seem to buy into too much, which is fantastic to see when it's working. Obviously players can't play anywhere, but when you look at the bigger clubs they tend to rotate positions far more effectively than we ever have. It's been 4-4-2 or bust here for as long as I can remember and it's nice to see that changing, as much as anything else.

He was excellent in the main against us on Saturday.

If we could sign Lassana Diarra for under £4m I daresay it could be a signing far more worthy in years to come than the likes of Torres for £25m.

Would love to see Diarra in the shirt.

With Chelsea going after Alves, a bid for Diarra couldn't hurt.

No thanks (to Faye). We surely can do better.

For £2 million he would be a steal. A good (and obviously underated) player.

He's a center-half. Lacks the pace to play RB so he'd be coming here to be a sub for Rozy and Taylor, which is why I thought Cacapa was signed for?

We need a RB first and foremost. Then maybe a cover for LB (if Cacapa isn't).

Faye's a DM first and foremost, but can do a very good job at CB, and we still need cover there. Behind Roz, Taylor and Cacapa is Ramage - and he mustn't get a game. In the DM position, Butt's getting on and Geremi's better going forward imo. Get Faye in.

Isn't there a rumour that clueless actually purchased the wrong Faye and he wanted Abdoulaye not Amdy all along.

Better late than never.

If it was started by Souness its a possibility. Faye would be decent back up for the squad. Not an astounding signing, but gives us a little more depth. Throw in a RB and LB cover and I will be very happy.
