Lack ambition?

Reading through some of the posts and media(c*cks the lot of em) it seems that some think we have lost our ambition because we haven't signed a 10million+ player(some times in the pat this really hasn’t worked out for us) this season(upto now). The other opinion that seems to be spreading in particular on the public forums is that we don't have the stature to sign or attract these types of player anymore. Are we trying to punch above our weight or is it just a load of Sh*t I would like to know what the typical fan in the stand thinks about this?

Sam is building a TEAM not a bunch of dissolute t*ossers who play without conviction and not for each other. This means you do not need to spend zillions on one player.

Joey Barton definitely doesn't play without conviction  :crazy2:

The southern press are terrirfied that we might actually do something this season thats why they always try and upset the applecart, Just ignore there headlines and general garbage they write pointless utter crap TBH.

I mean look how desperate they are to push Spuds into the top 4 bracket FFS, they can even beat the makems and were awful yesterday and yet they always put the Toon down at the first sniff of any story look how they jumped on A. Hole Olivers tripe this week.

I hope Sam and the boys ram it back down their throughts this season "I'd LOVE IT!"

The players that we've signed have been players we've needed and so far I can't see anything to complain about.  We haven't splashed more than we've needed to and that's good management, too often we've brought in players who have cost more than they were worth, with a bit of luck those times are over and we'll buy players for what we think they'll bring to the team, if they cost over £10 million then that's what they'll cost.

It's not what you pay, it's what you get.

Spending over £10 million on a player or players doesn't make you more ambitious.

Our best player so far cost us £0.00 in transfer fee's imo.

We could just do a Souness and spend stupid amounts of money then pretty much all the players signed struggle/fail for various reasons...

The idiots on Football Focus were implying that Man U and Liverpool had strengthened their teams by spending a lot of money and that Chelsea hadn't. The fact that Chelsea got 3 quality player for free didn't seem to count as improvements to the pundits. They were only looking at the money spent.

Big money signings should always be 'icing on the cake' players.

Rooney, Ronaldo etc complimented and added to what Man United already had. Hargreaves does the same (although he was a bit overpriced).

Spurs did well paying £10m on Berbatov last season as he was what they needed. Bent was a waste at £16m because they didn't need it.

£11m on Smith and Barton was money well spent for us this season, if we had spent the same amount on Hargreaves it would have been money wasted.

Personally glad that this summer we've paid money where we've had to to put the right players where needed and then picked up some cracking Bosmans to build the squad/team

Yesterday, The Mirror had a review of each clubs transfers and gave a yes/no verdict on whether money had been spent wisely. They rated us under "no"!

Listen, no matter what NUFC does, we'll be slagged off by the southern-based media. If we go out spending big money on players, then we're squandering/wasting money on players not worth it.

If we don't spend as much, we lack ambition, can't attract top players etc.

When it comes to those pr!cks we can't win.

They rated City as "no" too.

West Ham got a "yes".

The Mirror also printed this:

Homeless in Eastlands?

Brian Reade 11/08/2007

Those 15 players (seven from Burundi, four Liberians, three Cameroonians, and one Afghan) who went missing after the Homeless World Cup in Denmark. What do you think the chances are of them ending up on Manchester City's bench before the transfer window closes?

Rather enjoyed this particular reposte a City fan came up with:

Who gives a fuck what the London media thinks. They're a fucking embarrasment.  :idiot2:

Probably worried that we're actually looking somewhat decent so far.

If we'd spent loads they'd have made comparisons between Allardyce and Souness, now we spend little but still sign quality they bring up rubbish about how there's no money whatsoever to spend and that Ashley is looking to sell.

We can't win at all, it's best just to ignore stupid articles like that.
