  1. I'd love to be in a position where we might have a chance of challenging for trophies year in year out. I'd be happy to be 40-1 to win the premier league, like Liverpool are at the moment. I want us to consolidate a postition in the top 4, qualify for the CL every year, and then look at trophies. Someone said on here (or maybe toontastic) that as long as they're promised to see Newcastle win a trophy, then they don't mind the timeframe. That's kinda how I feel about it.
  2. No - are you assuming that everyone NOT a player are Sam's mob ? I didn't include the tea-lady in there either. And no, before you jump on the obvious, not her either ! There are others - not the ones studying players walking patterns, stuying their feces, sock stretchiness etc, that could do the job who are connected with NEWCASTLE itself. Obviously I don't know the details (not many of us do) but I think Allardyce pretty much built his own backroom staff list. I think it'll take a hell of a lot of money to pay them all off, but I guess Mike doesn't have to worry about money.
  3. Because it would be difficult for Mort to take training, look after the players injuries, and manage the team on matchdays? Right - so theres just them, is there ? Ahh ok, you're asking why we haven't appointed someone yet?
  4. Are you taking the piss?

  6. Liverpool played more attractive football under Houllier than they're managing at the moment. There's little differance tbh. People are waking up to Benitez. The world catches upto me sooner or later. Houllier had Liverpool playing with 6 or 7 players who could score. Liverpool rely on 2 players now.
  7. Amazing how much stick we get for living with that memory. Kinda makes us look like a small club syndrome set of fans tbh

  9. Ironic post. Redknapp's teams play attacking football. Who doesn't understand football?
  10. Agree 100%. Yesterday just reminded me just how much I love this club, and just how much needs sorting out to get it back to where it should be. To be honest, I'm not hurting whatsoever about the result, I'm hurting about the state of the club (actually, that should read "state of the squad")
  11. With Drogba, Berbatov, Vidic and Fabregas pitching in.
  12. I'd rather we played like Chelsea to grind out results and win the league every year. Is that what you're asking?
  13. I don't think that was his tone tbf - I think he was trying to emphasise that he had done something "major" by putting that much money in to show he was serious rather than a figure of fun suggested by his sit with the fans image. I would stop short of kissing his arse but us being a debt free club is worthy of some gratitude I feel. Being debt-free doesn't affect the fans. If the efficient running of the club's finances eventually results in higher revenues which are invested in higher quality personnel, which in turn results in better performances on the pitch - then it affects us. Hasn't happened yet. I'll be grateful when it eventually - hopefully - does. Yeah, Luton fans aren't being affected at all mate. I agree with you Gol one day some people may grasp the concept that running a football club isn't quite the same as running Marks and Spencers Was thinking on the way home from the match today that I should PM you. Done a few u-turns on some of our debates, and starting to agree with you on many things. Help me

  15. He's the most pointless player on there. Everyone has him, and everyone has him as captain
  16. He can't, it's not his club anymore. None of us are allowed to. Your a WUM "You're"
  17. He can't, it's not his club anymore. None of us are allowed to.
  18. He's putting the club in a better position than it was in before he bought it. If you don't take any positivity from that, then it's your call. I would have thought you'd be bothered enough to care for the future of YOUR (sorry, his) club though.
  19. Perhaps if SSR had invested £250m, he'd have then handed it into the control of every single fan?
  20. Why? i guarantee you he wouldn't of heard of half the players doing good things in Italy, Portgual, Spain etc. Therefore i don't see many foreign signings and sticking to 'good, honest' players You're a WUM
  21. Playing the martyr eight months in. Acting like we're a charity case and he's done us a big favour. we were and he has He hasn't paid OUR debt off, he's paid HIS debt off. He hasn't given US any money. He's invested it in HIS business, from which HE will get the profits. Falling hook line and sinker for the old Shepherd guff. You were happier when the club owed over £70m then? He won't make profit from Newcasle United. Where's he going to make £250m back? Even Man United don't manage that.
  22. Playing the martyr eight months in. Acting like we're a charity case and he's done us a big favour. Erm, are you joking? He's got every right tbh
  23. Van Gaal. They can't defend for s*** though Wullie - talking about debts; Man United still owe over £600m for the two loans they took out (from an American bank and an American company, so our country don't even benefit from it). They announce this week that they're once again the richest club in England (although only because of turnover). I think our financial future looks far rosier than theirs, despite their massive assets. 3rd richest club in england? Who, us? I doubt it at the moment.
  24. How would they be perfect? Not having a go, just wondered. Johnson in particular, has masterminded to promotions, Bristol City and Yeovil, both on fairly low budgets. Plays brilliant football in a league where it is difficult to implement that style of play, has experience at an international level and generally seems to be an astute fella, very good. Mowbray, again turned Hibs into a top 4 SPL side and is regarded by their fans as one of their best managers, and despite building up a great squad and losing in the play-offs to Derby last season, losing some of his prized assets to Prem clubs, he's been brilliant in the transfer market this season. I've been particularly impressed with Filipe Teixera. They play great football, second that imho of Bristol City this season. Both these guys need a chance in the big-time, they are good enough, however young English managers aren't really given the chance at the top-level and I would like to see one of them at a big-ish club, such as Newcastle, although a risk it is one I think would pay off. I don't disagree with them both being good up-and-coming managers. I watch lower legue football week in, week out, and there aren't many better than those two. However, Newcastle are at a stage now where they need something more than people who know how to get small clubs to over-achieve.
