I'd take him. I seem to remember you agreeing with me that Keegan would make him a top player a few months back too. You remember wrongly I'm afraid. Nah. http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=50015.msg1268673#msg1268673 Missed the bit about me saying I'd rather get someone from abroad, who would be better value? Lennon for £3m-£4m maybe, but not at the £10m we'd have to pay to get him!

That's the crux of it, even KK is far from certain that we'll get the players in. If he's concerned, I think we have every right to be too. Just because he said in a few quotes that he's less optimistic, doesn't mean nothing will happen. At the end of the day, it's not the end of the world if we don't get anyone else in. We're still playing good football. Reckon we can get through until January with the same 12 or 13 players on form with no injuries? We need squad players. We've just had a great start to the season while missing Viduka, Barton, Martins, and others. When they are back I personally believe we can get through to January OK. Ideally we need another 3 players, but it's not the end of the world. Of course it's not the end of the world, but last season we were nothing short of awful in midfield, and we've not even spoken about a central midfielder since the Modric story. People have gone from the "we need 6 or 7 players" before half of the squad left to "a couple should do it". Why? Because people kneejerk claiming we need to spend £150 million to get into the top 6, and that only a few of our players are good enough for a top half team. Our squad is no smaller than the likes of Man City, Portsmouth, Everton, Villa or Blackburn. We've actually got quite a big squad, but you wouldn't want half of them near the first team. After Martins, Owen and Viduka, there isn't a striker in the squad who could make an impact. All three of those are generally injured, as is being shown now. I know it's gonna take time to ship out the rubbish and replace them with decent players, but if we get injuries to any of our first teamers we're going to end up around 12th or 13th, which is going to mean a wasted season and transfer window in my opinion.

Regarding the CM thing... we've bought Guthrie, and Jonas can play there. As I say, it's not ideal, but there is every chance we will get the few players in. Sorry, I worded that badly. I meant a creative midfielder.

Hope not, simply because he isn't. He's marginally better than Milner, but it's close.

Are people taking the piss when they say they want to sign Lennon?

We don't need another hero! thanks for the input I agree we don't need another CB, Fullback's and cm's are required. striker, striker, striker not 3 strikers, just one good one and a CM we can worry about FB's later imo nailed on. Even a blind man can see it. thirded it's obvioust to all and sundry, and i think in that department, Keegan is looking for someone like Cole as opposed to signings like Shearer or Ferdinand. As in, taking a chance on an unknown rather than spending big and going for a big gun or two. I say this simply because in Owen, Viduka and Martins we already have 3 relatively big names, and adding a fourth right now may not be a viable option wages/transfer fee/availability wise. Andy Keogh and Billy Sharp. Sorted.

So Martins on the right wing and Jonas in the centre? Fantastic idea HTT. Shows exactly why you were such a fan of Allardyce.

Taylor self-congratulatory? Never! I hear Taylor is going to wear a different squad number this week, as he is retiring his old one in honour of his performance. To be fair, it was a good save - that shot was going in! Should have been sent off then shouldn't he? -
No, what it basically means is that 6-7% of our usual fanbase couldn't be bothered to turn up. What other clubs do is irrelevant. Or couldn't afford to?

Cheers Anyway, the point about Gerrard being played out of position; how about factoring in the point that Gerrard actually played up front in some of those games? Surely that's his best position for Liverpool, so why can't he recreate it for England? In the same way that mrmojo calls Owen "England's Michael Owen", I really do feel that Gerrard only gives a shit about Liverpool.

That joke's only 2 posts above yours. Surely you saw it? I think we'll sign a new left back, and call it a day.

Good enough to start for the european champions though. The stick Brown gets never ceases to amaze me. Same with Rooney, both are great players for the best team around, yet apparently are s*** for England...think there might be a reason for that. Then again, paradoxically I think Gerrard and Terry never really perform for England cause they're actually no way near as good as people think. Biased I know, but I still think their comparitive club form backs me up. A final word on England's best players being crap. People whinge and whinge and whinge about Lampard and Gerrard together in a midfield. How is it always Lampard's fault? Why is it he, who is clearly not a centre mid and doesnt pretened to be, who should suffer to accomodate the most headless of all chickens? If England want to make any progress Saint Steven should be dropped until he learns how to actually play in midfield, which will be never I'd guess. Lampard should be allowed to play in his inimitable Lampardy way, with a pair of midfielders behind him who know how to defend. I've noticed this place brings out the rants in me, I'm not sure why. Sorry like....but that's spot the fuck on!! IMO Lampard is the better of the two at what they do best. Gerard never looks interested Absolutely spot on. Good points from both of you.

What difference does it make if we build him up on here? He's hardly going to read it and let it go to his head. Nice to see some positive comments about our players for a change. -
Wow, so much wrong with that post, so little time. I'll keep it simple by telling you that you're wrong.
-
As long as the club can afford it, it doesn't bother me one bit. I'm not sure it says anything in the article about not being able to sign other players if Owen is paid that amount of money. Love it how people on here go on about how much a player is paid, when in reality it makes very little difference to us. I imagine if Martins was asking for £140k then people on here would be saying that it's not enough.

What happened? Got kicked out the ground and ticket taken off me for standing waiting for people at the bottom of the stairs. Steward was a cunt, basically picked me up and through me out, then after i had a go at him the police took me away Got another ticket and was then taken away by the police again. They nearly broke my fuckin arms carryin me away. I am looking for somewhere to report the steward, but even after finding the head policeman, he couldn't do anything. Any advice ? Cut down on the drink and respect your elders? Hardly touched any drink at all. I do respect my elders, but when they think they are mint infront of kids and grab you by the neck from behind for no reason at all except stading there and kickin your legs to get you to move. Fucking cunt. And aparently the police can't do anything because on match days the stewards " are in charge ". I was absaloutly foaming. Then when i went back the second time, i was told to reason with the steward, who then pinned me up against the wall and called for back up Wtf man, you can't win at that place. Never going back again I'm sure you were extremely polite, like all idiots who are kicked out of grounds.

Funny that the people on here who treat Keegan like a God should doubt his judgement on the keeper he picks. Odd really.
-
Bit harsh. Not for round here its not. Irony tbh. How's Owen?
-
Would selling Owen be a good message to our potential signings? I'm not so sure.

Was it Man United away?

Time to drag up the Deco thread where people on here claimed he wasn't good enough?
