Who's overreacting like? The player is simply rated more highly than those who will remain here. Exactly, he isnt the greatest player ever but the simple fact is he is the best of what we have (pre Coloccini) so selling him for peanuts isn't viewed by some as a good idea. Aye you two are sensible but there are people saying things like they are totally gutted and Keegan is clueless, we are out of control etc. Faye is good but not much better than Taylor imo and who is to say a replacement is not lined up anyway. This would still leave us with Taylor, Colo, Cacapa, Bassong and Edgar which is not too shabby as long as Collocini turns out ok. I think if we are selling him there is good reason for it. Edgar will never make it at this level

Completely agree, actually. Fed up of it all. Doesn't make much sense coming from you though. Eh? Why's that then?
-
Actually, you're not wrong there. Our midfield last season was probably the worst in the league.
-
I've given up caring I think. Just get the window closed and let us get on with talking about the football rather than all this shit.

Interesting that you throw that last line in there. So the first 4 lines are ultimately pointless?

Fabricio Coloccini signed from Deportivo La Coruña on 5 year deal
Shearergol replied to Cronky's topic in Football
Yep, club held a press conference about 3 hours ago. Got him for a knocked down price too, which is good. No firm mention of another signing, but Keegan did hint at 3 more players coming in in the next week. -
Breach of contract. Despite Chelski selling him, they pursued him for (among other things) loss of potential transfer fee (i.e. if he became the world's best player and his value rocketed). Quite a few elements would have been considered when quantifying Chelsea's loss. In any situation such as this one, the non-defaulting party (Chelsea) is under a duty to mitigate (essentially to minimise as much as possible) their loss. Chelsea mitigated their loss by making some money back on Mutu. They were therefore free to pursue him for the rest. So someone decided he was potentially going to earn Chelsea over £20m? In fact, take his wages into account, which they saved on, that's almost like saying the potential sale could have been £30m!!
-
This. My issue is that I'd be surprised if all three were replaced. I'd be amazed if ANY of them were.
-
How does that work? Chelsea got money for him anyway.
-
Not that fussed tbh. Same as if Milner and Smith go. However, we need replacements, urgently.

Fabricio Coloccini signed from Deportivo La Coruña on 5 year deal

Apparently he played a whole season as a defensive midfielder for Depor previously, and still plays there occassionally. Can't wait to see how things pan out. All very confusing at the moment. When?? Where did you hear that? He's certainly played a number of games there, but not for a full season. Played at DM in 2006-2007 apparently. Yep, he did, but not for the entire season. He spent half the time playing at the back. Actually, I think he missed a lot of that season when he fell out with the manager Didn't we try to sign him back then too? -

Pointless TBH. Not finding a replacement, just replacing him with someone who isn't that good either. If we are to replace him it's either got to be ready made striker such as Santa Cruz etc or a younster who could be good for us in a few years i.e Derdiyok. There's no excuse for signing shite players, i'd rather give Carroll a chance. There's absolutely NO reason why we shouldn't put an offer in for Santa Cruz regardless of whether we sell Shola or not. Agree that Healy would be a pointless signing.

In fact the only breach is in your ability to read. As I say quite clearly: Which is a response to suggestions from others that Gutierrez's transfer could be seen as illegal by FIFA. To be honest, I reckon the club might quite fancy being banned from signing players for two years. Would certainly take the heat off from us lot -
Haven't they said that neither Jonas or Coloccini will be available though?

So we've signed loads of shit hot players, but only put 2 of them in the team? -
Only just seen this thread. James, you are a complete and utter mong. If you're doing it as a joke you're doing a great job
-
Exactly what I said about Alan Smith tbh. However, for £9m we could get a much much better player than Milner.
-
I wouldn't mind that much tbh. We could do much better. I don't think we will do much better though.
-
He's the only player you ever defend though. Do you think we should sell him for £9m?
-
Ameobi won't play. Smith up front on his own.
-
Have a word. He is right Wullie, worst player ever to put our shirt on. Hope he dies a slow and painful death personally although somehow I still feel that would be too good for him. What exactly is it that makes him your favourite player though?
-
As much as I'd be happy to sell him, it would mean bringing in 3 players, not 2. Squad isn't strong enough as it is.
-
It won't be announced. NE5 should know though.
-
Hardly a press conference was it? It was interview done for Chelsea TV, which just happened to be aired on SSN.
