  1. Cliff Byrne. http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/2054/cliffbyrne.jpg
  2. Murphy had a big falling out with Jones at half time as they left the pitch. Then in the dressing room at the end of the match a few choice words were exchanged. There's a lot of player power creeping in at Scunny, and certain people aren't very happy about it. Oh, and to answer the earlier question, I didn't really want either team to lose I know it's a really strange situation, but this is the first season (and probably last) where they've met in the league. I didn't for the life of me think that they'd even be in the same division, considering Scunthorpe nearly dropped out of the league completely a few years back. Tooj, are you referring to Forte or Hayes? I'm hoping it's the former.....
  3. I'll post this as a Scunthorpe fan Whats with the NUFC related avatar/username then? From the Tim Lovejoy school of supporter? Ahh, this one again. I've followed Newcastle for 27 years now, but scunthorpe are my home team (considering I live in Scunthorpe). Ok?
  4. I'll post this as a Scunthorpe fan, which is difficult to do right now. That was easily our worst performance of the season. Absolutely gutless performance; they just didn't turn up. It was always going to be one way traffic, but they looked like they didn't even care. Missing your best defender (Mirfin) and your best striker (Hooper) doesn't help, but add to that a right back who should be back playing college football in america, and a centre back who wouldn't look out of place in Sunday league football, it was always going to be a big defeat. There was a huge argument after the match between the players. Think they already know they're down, and no there's a rumour Hooper is out for the season. Had a decent night our after the match though, after I'd recovered from my vertigo. Andrew Wright was the best player in light blue last night, in my opinion. Thought he was outstanding considering what he was up against. Had a couple of shaky moments but on the whole was very, very good. One of the very few to play anywhere near the level required. Agree that it was the worst performance of the season though, just didn't turn up at all. Wright being the best Scunny player last night says more about the rest of the team. He's not up to Championship standard (you could say that only Murphy, Hooper and Josh Wright are though I guess). It could quite easily have been 9 or 10 nil. Murphy's not a happy bunny at all, and there could be some reprecussions of that......

Shame Williams and Josh Wright both picked up injuries. Adkins might go to Bristol City too now. Happy days.

  7. To be fair, for the size of town, and the number of actual supporters, Scunny always have a good away following.
  8. I wasn't aware that Keegan signed the players?
  9. Cliff Byrne, meant to be their best defender. Suspended as he was sent off this weekend. (Shearergol feel free to amend this) For best, read worst. He's absolute garbage and slower than Shearer would be nowadays. Can't see this being anything other than a rugby scoreline. Incidently, where's the best place to drink after the match considering it's St Paddy's day?
  10. I've always wondered why people try to take things away from stats. "I wonder how many goals Shearer would have scored if you don't count the ones which looked easy?" You could take Lampard's freekicks away, but then do the same for Beckham, Scoles and Gerrard. In fact, take them out of football and say the goals don't actually count unless you beat 5 players first.
  11. Complete dick as a player, but for some reason became a likeable manager. RIP.
  12. Do you think Hooper could do the business at the top level, Gol? I think he's fantastic at this level, especially in how he combines with Hayes and uses his body against far bigger defenders, but not sure if he's really cut out for the PL. Personally I think he perhaps just lacks that classic "yard of pace", especially over a short distance, to really be able to push on. He is still improving at an impressive rate though, so he definitely has a chance. Needs to improve his conversion rate from good chances particularly, but that should come with form and confidence in time. He still scores enough of them. Agree that he's better than Best as well, by the way, but would have cost us 3 times more (at least) as Scunny know he's probably their key to staying up. There's something about Hooper which makes me think he might one day play in the premiership (hell, Martin Patterson does!). He's not at that standard yet though, and you're right about his conversion to chance rate. He sometimes gets really frustrated in games which is when he seems to switch off. The thing about Scunny which is different to Coventry is the fact that they've created a hell of a lot of chances this season. They're a much better footballing team than a lot of the other teams down there, but they just can't defend.
  13. The only threat will come from corners and freekicks.
  14. To be fair, Hooper is clearly a better striker, but Scunny refused to sell him (to whoever the unknown club were who bid for him).
  15. Worst team I've seen this season when Scunthorpe played them there.
  16. Listening to Scunny on the radio. Amazed it's still only 1. How's Hall playing by the way? I got told to give him a couple of games before pointing out that he's shit.
  17. I'm not convinced Rio will even go to the world cup with his injury record recently.
  18. Yes, all he does is beats up DJs. Another great example of an English role-model.
  19. Is he better than the Italian lad we had who Skirge thought should be straight in the team?
  20. Didn't Vanessa sleep with half of the Chelsea team BEFORE getting with Bridge? I thought Drogba introduced them in the first place??
  21. He's learning from Smith.
