Shay Given signs for Manchester City for £5.9m plus add-ons
Shearergol replied to a topic in Football
Where's that from? Friend of mine who is a Man City fan. If you look back at the other clubs transfers you'll see that I reported their last transfer before the media, so he's a good source -
NE5 type tactics. Well done.

He's having a medical today. £10m deal, no players coming ths way. -
I think I agree with that and I think he will do a good job at Blackburn, for them, like Bolton. You were pleased when we appointed him too. Do you think we should have kept him?

Ozzie is a right bastard for supporting the appointment of Souness, the bloke who appointed him is great. And anyway I didn't support the appointment of Souness. That must make Shepherd a cunt. well, your support of Souness was well documented, unfortunately on the old server, if it isn't true that you supported him right to the end, why not confirm that from the moment he kicked out Bellamy he was getting it wrong, as was the case. Anyway, I found this. http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,38118.msg765469.html#msg765469 And remember when UV and myself were asked to provide proof of anyone wanting "anyone but fred", which you denied, and UV found your comment "nothing to change from a change at the top". Didn't you also comment lately on how sad you found the lads who walked around inside the ground with the banner ? http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,31195.msg582620.html#msg582620 http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,31195.msg591099.html#msg591099 Old server? Thought everything was brought across? And anyway, he could just claim that someone edited his post....

Emre was never great on the ball though, or great at anything come to think of it. Although I quite liked Emre as a player and his style, not suited to the English Premier League though. When we signed him and Parker I thought at last we have the right combo, one that would give us at least 5 years. Funny how things work out. Your judgement on player's ability is absolutely rubbish though, so there's hope for Veloso yet.

No. Space, down by the Corn Exchange. I fell asleep on the shitter last time I went in there. Oh. That doesn't fit with my rumour then

Do you honestly think adopting Ashley's methods (hiring an inexperienced DoF over the manager, net £0 transfers, allowing the star striker's contract to run down to get him off the wages, trying to sell the club, bringing in a manager unable to find a job anywhere else) back in 2001 would have got us into the CL? I don't think either approach (if that is MA's approach) would get us back in the CL. I seem to remember battling relegation in the last couple of years under FS too. Different board, same old shit.

Does Kaka rate every foreign player now then?

Bar Risa was it? Interesting...

Of course he can. Prices don't go down if clubs get relegated. In fact, some clubs put the price up. -
Is Dennis Wise a disruptive influence? Or are the fans making him one?

Something that never seemed to happen, for whatever reason. Maybe their ideas of the 'the right price' where too far apart, or maybe Keegan forgot about this principle and wanted Ashley to spend big straight away. Or perhaps he just wanted a left back. He did publicly state a left back was his top priority at the start of the summer. He walked becasue he couldnt get a left back? As an example of a broader principle. We needed a left back and our director of recruitment failed to deliver, preferring to spend what little cash was available on Xisco. We also needed a striker. Especially now! -
This. The thing is I like Tevez, but Saviola is a better goal scorer and much more polished overall. Tevez is quality but sometimes has a tendency to slip into a bit of a captain caveman mode. Too much cowabunga and not enough guapa. You wumming here Kaka? Spouting things like this will only mean people stop reading your otherwise good posts.

We didn't need another striker? Are you mad? -
I like Gelson. Gets all over the pitch like you couldn't imagine breaking stuff up. In posession he distributes the ball well with short simple passes, nothing too overcomplicated. Very good player who is easy to overlook because he doesn't do anything too flash. That's like how Arsenal fans rate Taylor. Man City think Gelson is gash.

I see Hull signed an England international this week. It's not like every club in the league is doing it is it.

Why would it bother you if Given went there and didn't play? -
Yes, we should be in for him, he's impressed me whenever I've seen him. He reminds me of Butt back in his pomp (the season before the 2002 WC and of course that World Cup). Man City fans think he's garbage. We were linked with him before Sven bought him, and I seem to remember him saying he'd prefer a move to a bigger club in the Premier League than us.
