  1. Honestly? He's very close to signing for Burnley from what I've heard. Certainly building up a youth/reserve team aren't we.
  2. Are people who miss the game allowed to comment on certain things they see on TV though?
  3. He signed some very good players for us. He should've we were the 2nd best team in the country, one of the richest in the world and in the Champion's League. and those players still took us from that position to mid-table. given time i'm sure he'd have done better but he did a poor job short-term. The football we played under Dalglish was atrocious. He did make some good signings in Given, Solano, Hamman (for that 1 season) but made some equally bad signings like the jobs for the boys (Rush, Barnes, his son etc), Des Hamilton, Andreas Andersson, Lionel Perez...... falling out with Ginola, selling Ferdinand and replacing them sub standard players. Everyone goes on about him taking us to 2nd place in the CL, but that was with Keegans team. The season after was his team......the one where we performed so miserably, playing largely boring negative football and finishing 13th. Hardly his fault Ferdinand was sold though. i know, just replacing him with rubbish substandard players was the issue The only manager to purchase a top striker since Shearer/Ferdinand (I'm not counting Owen, as he's not done it for us) is when a certain man brought in a certain Craig Bellamy. Dalglish was unlucky with a few of his buys tbh.

Kenny Miller has only scored 1 more in the same games, with less assists. He's played all of them up fron too. Emile Heskey is yet to score. I don't think Smith should be in the team, but it's nothing to do with lack of goals. It's to do with lack of ability. I didnt realise Miller had only scored that one against us, although to be fair to Smith, give him two games against us and even he would score. Miller has 3 goals and 2 assists in the league for a worse team in 400 less minutes. heskey scored against sunderland but he's been out with injuries. Hmm, that'll teach me to go by fantasy league points then. Oops.

  7. i also remember a few years ago jussi got injured for bolton and they didn't have a reserve keeper, so bo hansen went in What's funny about that story by the way?

it's actually the most reasonable explanantion The one which suits you the most you mean?
  9. Souness obviously edited your posts to match.
  10. Says who? Do you know for a fact that debt is on Ashley rather than the club? Has Ashley cleared the debt or do we owe him £100m? None of the details are public, its all guesswork, but like any good self-made billionaire his own fortune is very rarely ever at risk with business ventures these days, if the club went down i reckon the debt would be back on us if he did decide to wash his hands of us. remember the article in the sundays with ashley that said he found out the club was in a lot more debt than he though as soon as he bought it? but he paid it anyway and if he'd known in advance it wouldn't have changed his decision he said in there, i think, that it was all being paid by him and used man u as an example of why we're in the best position 'cause he IS paying it himself whereas they're mortgaging the clubs future and the debt is the clubs only trouble is i also seem to recall that interview being discredited not long after too I remember the article, but it still didn't say if the debt was to be paid back. That's a major issue if we go down. Whoever bought the club would have to pay Ashley what he wants back, not the club.
  11. Solid facts, and knowledge about the club Dave. Care to disagree or show me you know better ? Somehow I doubt that you will attempt it. I've got solid knowledge of the Luque situation, which I've explained a number of times. I've started to agree with you on a lot of things on this forum, especially regarding how blinkered people are to the new board. However, I really wish you'd accept that some things which have been said which put FS in a bad light (such as Souness wanting Boa Morte and Fred over-ruling it and telling him to buy Luque, who had been offered to us). It happened, and I reported it happened a long time before Souness came out and said the same thing. Was it just co-incidence that Souness came out with exactly the same story I'd documented, or was he reading my posts on toonchat or something?

How did the joke that Smith must have it written into his contract that he plays every game suddenly become ITK information? It's a load of bollocks.
  13. Are you implying that our Chairman made some money out of it?
  14. I personally think he should have been given much more time, and given it, he would have turned it around.
  15. I hear what you're saying but I still don't think they'll win it. Benitez certainly knows how to set up a team to win a one-off game and they'll be tough to beat but I'd fancy all 3 English teams left in it to knock them out if it comes down to brass tacks. I hope so. I wouldn't be able to stand it if Man Utd or Liverpool win it. Personally, I'd like to see either Barca or the Arsenal win it. Man U at a push... Anyone but Liverpool for me.
  16. Someone start watching Scottish football to see who we're gonna go for then.

    What worries me

Bit like a teacher who doesn't actually teach. "Life is the best lesson". Sorry, but I don't agree with you. If you were coaching under 8's I'd agree though. If you want kids to improve at the game, you coach them. Natural ability and love for the game only gets you so far. This is the whole point though, now if I were trying to develop footballers then yes they would need coached at some point I dare say, but I'm not. I don't look at these kids as a future Wayne Rooney or a potential star in the making I just see them as kids enjoying football for what it is - a game of fun. That's the problem with society today, we can't leave things alone. We see kids mucking about playing football for the sheer hell of it and think they somehow need our help when in reality they don't. In fact adult rule, especially in kids' football, is proving quite damaging to kids and our sport. Kids have a right to play football freely without any form of adult involvement or our outlook on the sport being imposed on what is essentially their play time. So what do you actually do? Nothing other than joining in or watching. Sometimes I'll fetch the goal out and a few balls if the kids themselves haven't sorted these things out for themselves and the odd time you will, as an adult, have to step in to sort a few skirmishes and to remind the elder kids that there are bairns about. The West End's very own Terry Mac So the whole "since I got into coaching" should actually read "since I became a youth club leader...."?
  18. It doesn't mean fuck all really. None of the aforementioned clubs have English managers and they all rely on mainly foreigners for their success, with the obvious exceptions of Cole, Terry, Gerrard, Carragher, Rooney and Ferdinand and Lampard
  19. It's all about the league mate Personally, I'd rather have no English teams in Europe (unless it's us) and still see England in the Championships, so I agree with your point.
  20. Start of the season a UEFA Cup spot goes to the winners of the Carling Cup, unfortunately they won it and they didn't have a particularly easy run in it either, don't see why it's galling tbh. Thanks for that. We had: Blackpool Boro City (10 men 70 mins of the game) Arsenal Chelsea The rules were known to all parties before the season started and its not exactly our fault teams like Villa and Blackburn done poorly in the competition. Was the City game the one with the laughable sending off, followed by Malbranque getting away with trying to kill someone?
  21. Torres is a fucking machine. Why Man United and Chelsea didn't go for him a couple of years back I'll never know.
