Because Man Utd won the EL, I was on about the CL winners as spurs did miss out on CL because Chelsea won it and finished outside of top 4 But they changed the rules again to advantage the top countries. Doesn't matter if its an English team winning EL or CL, you get 5 if they are not in top 4. Only way a team that finishes 4th in the Premier League doesn't get in the CL is if the CL and EL winners are both English clubs that finished outside the top 4. Yes, I had said that in a previous post after admitting my mistake. Yeah I wrote that one above before I'd seen that. It's not straightforward - explained well here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47806720

In this case the CL entrants would be top 3 + the EL and CL winners.

How do you think Chelsea, Man United, Spurs, Man City and Liverpool all played in the group stage of the Champions League last season (17/18)?
-
If you win the Champions League and finish outside the top 4 then you get the 4th placed CL spot and the team finishing 4th gets the Europa League spot. If you finish outside the top 4 and win the Europa League then you get an extra CL spot, I do believe that you lose a Europa League spot though. Wrong. That's correct apart from losing a EL spot. It isn't. In the first scenario we get five clubs in the CL. Nah, that was changed after the Liverpool fiasco. Remember spurs didn't qualify in 2011/12 after chelsea won it after finishing 6th. Wrong.

John Obi Mikel has just scored for Middlesbrough. Had no idea he played for them.

Just Derby and Boro for last play off spot.

Castle Keep is on it. -
Diame made it very clear he did not want the 1 year extension to be triggered. He will end up somewhere like Leeds and could do a decent job for them if they use him correctly. Still perplexed we used him as a no 10 for most of the Championship season really.

All about the boat trip. -
This is why I'm disappointed Diame didn't get a contract extension. He shouldn't be starting matches anymore, but hes decent back up and now with 3 centre midfielders likely to leave we lack quality and quantity in centre midfield. Its the same with strikers with Rondon, Gayle and Joselu likely to leave and we will have to buy at least 2 strikers in the summer. Bringing in so many players in one summer is not a good idea, but we might be forced to just to build up the squad. This is what happens when you undermine your manager in the transfer market and rely too much on loans. He didn't want to stay for one year, wanted a three year deal and club wouldn't give him it so he's basically done a deal with the club not to trigger it unless critical (i.e. everyone injured).

Might have been on the divide, there's barely a gap and a line of stewarts (© stiffy) sitting every few rows.

Horrific all round that.

Then he gets the same criticism from me.

Wasn't Andy Cole a similar age when he won it playing for us?
