  1. ? Looks a fair wage for a manager in relation to what players earn nowadays. It's more than fair considering he hasn't even completed one year before walking out. Que?

  3. He's got 12m out of Villa for Milner though, although his negotiation skills only involved the word 'no' (probably knowing about a fuming manager behind his back) and a desperate buyer raising the price to a ridiculous price...

    Joe Kinnear

He's 27 since yesterday though. He'll probably still be seen as a prospect by some people in the game after recovering from getting his artificial hip and playing for the Newcastle General Hospital geriatrics XI in 40 years time...
  5. This nonsense doesn't become truer just because it gets repeated.
  6. ? There was some posted on here iirc, nothing with quotes or anything but they said we had moved for him before it had been picked up in the tabloids over here. I never heard anything down here from any respectable source (and my local paper is from Munich and normally quite well informed). There might have been interest, yes, but from what I know from reports down here a deal was rather unlikely. Therefore I especially do not believe the story (NOTW version IIRC) that Bayern actually had agreed a fee and it was Schweinsteiger who turned us down. The whole Schweinsteiger story looked like a big smokescreen iyam.
  7. Tbh, the Nigerian economy isn't exactly well-known for its positive headlines, so the scepticism of people is understandable I think. Add to it the state of affairs in African football in general. There have been a lot of European managers working there and given a bit of insight. It's quite often that the fooball sides suffer from external influences coming from powerul politics and business people (who often go hand in hand). One of the reasons why African nations despite of all their talent are still lacking behind. That's what making me very sceptical of an African ownership being good for the club.
  8. Yes, I'd like him back. And if only it was for the disappointment of some of the numpties who come up with the biggest load of tosh I've read for some time. Some stuff I read here is nonsense of unbelievable proportions.
  9. He'll be happy to work with them again in a couple of months time if the tabloids get their way...
  10. It wasn't a wrong decision of a referee back then though. It was the mistreatment of a 'gentlemen's agreement'. So the FA wasn't bothered about protecting any official and it was more or less just in the hand of the clubs (and the media) back then.
  11. If they overturned all wrongly awarded/wrongly disallowed goals we'd have the FA basically having to confirm the scoreline of every match. "Yeah, I think we got the three points today but we won't be sure untill we get the official FA scores tomorrow..." In clear cases like this common sense should prevail though. Having said this. There was a similar incident over ten years ago in Germany when Helmer "scored" the so called "phantomtor" (should help you finding it on a certain video website). The game got repeated, but FIFA made a big fuss about it.
  12. who? From Bayern, was the german football round-up on Setanta. Didnt catch the name. Isn't that Jansen? Too slow tbh. You should work for Setanta.
  13. who? From Bayern, was the german football round-up on Setanta. Didnt catch the name. Marcel Jansen. They already signed him a couple of days ago and Jansen even played for Hamburg at the weekend. That's why Atouba is up for sale. Setanta seem a bit slow with their round-up...
  14. Where is this reported? We could have had a bid for another left back accepted? Everywhere. E.g. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/artikel/382390/
  15. It means that he didn't have as many good games as in his first season with some really shocking displays. The good Atouba is a decent player though. Will be interesting what comes out of this as with HSV having signed Jansen the opportunities will be limited for Atouba there.
  16. So it's off, or just delayed? How has he played over in Germany out of interest? Did surprisingly very well in his first season, been a bit inconsistent afterwards with being a bit temperamental.
  17. Transfer has taken a twist apparently. According to Hamburg's press officer Atouba was due to fly to England for a medical but instead surprisingly turned up at the training ground and has been included into the squad for tomorrow's match now.
  18. how far is VDV away from the end of his contract ? 2 years I read a while ago Real Madrid just taking the piss. £65m for Ronaldo and £4m for VDV how about a bid to unsettle someone to agitate for move....or maybe just meeja bullshit Vdv has a clause in his contract that he can leave next season for 1.5m €, so if Hamburg want to cash in they have to do it this year. As van der Vaart already wanted to leave the club for Spain last summer (photos taken with him holding a Valencia shirt already), so Madrid probably indeed try to unsettle him and lower the asking prie knowing that Hamburg are less reluctant to hold on to the player. If this story is true of course...
  19. Fernando Meira from Stuttgart is set to leave the club. According to their general manager they have an offer from Spurs. Turkish clubs are also rumoured to be interested. He wouldn't be a bad player, good organiser, something that we are lacking. His fee is said to be around 5-6m Euro.
  20. Looks like a Lukas Ramsauer story to me tbh.
  21. It's getting more ridiculous every day.
  22. Just start some dodgy rumour about some player from Galatralalasaray and let it do the Turkish boys for you...
  23. So while we spoke to his agent, Benfica went to Zaragoza to speak to club and player. Sack the board tbh...
