There was a classic moment when Wijnaldum was bursting through the middle. We were 3 against 2. Obertan on one side and Cisse on the other. Both would be through on goal. Ball goes out to Obertan, ends up back with our defence somehow.

Not tall, black, can actually head a ball, doesn't treat a football like a hot potato, can run, doesn't get blown over by the wind. Fair assessment.

He gets transferred every week.

Aye, he's simply got to be there like. Looking forward to see him fluorish in a team that doesn't completely rely on him for everything going forward. He's arguably our best player when he's not got all pressure on him. He will be much better when there's more space for him. Add Aarons on the other flank and Wijnaldum down the middle and he should flourish.

That is not the way to do it. Hopefully it's out of his system. I do anticipate he will get booked a lot so we need him to cut down on the stupid ones.

Wijnaldum ran out of gas tbf Even Aarons for Wijnaldum with Sissoko moving inside would have been better.

None of the subs added anything sadly. Mitrovic for Cisse was fair enough but Mitrovic acted like a tit as soon as he came on. Anita for Tiote was enforced but a better way to go would probably have been bringing De Jong on instead and pushing Wijnaldum back. Last sub had to be Aarons or Perez. That was madness.

Mostly awful but came into his element when we were back to the walls at the end.

Fell apart after he went off. Hopefully he isn't injured. Looked like a back injury so who knows.

A good start but the evidence is there that he alone won't make a big difference to the rest of the shite he plays alongside.

Well that was an improvement on the Pardew/Carver era. I'll give the players the benefit of the doubt in terms of fitness caused by a shoddy pre-season arranged by Carver. Worrying how everything fell apart when Anita went off though. Got to question whether we wanted the win when we have Perez and Aarons on the bench and neither of them get on the pitch.
