Not if you have 100% confidence and have been reassured by the owner. That would be 'I will be' rather than 'I expect to be' Meh. If he'd said 'I hope to be' then I'd understand. It's possible that Ashley just assured him the meeting would still be going ahead and he's read that as 'you'll be staying as manager'. Not saying he will be sacked but they don't sound like the words of someone who's had that definitive backing yet.

I think every one here (or at least most) would love to have Rafa here. However beyond wages I'm not sure how well he would work with Llambias and Ashley. They are very hands on with regards to transfers and the way the club is run. I'm not sure how Rafa would work with having players bought for him and sold without any say in it. Not to mention they are very difficult to get a long with as Keegan and Hughton found out.

I've seen plenty of Rafa Benitez to know he will be hounded out by our fans at the first sign of a below par season once they realise his football isn't much better than Pardew's. I reckon Pardew's "not much better" football would be much more popular if it resulted in winning some games every now and then like. Plenty of people suggesting they knew last season, when we were "winning some ganes every now and then" that our football was dire and Pardew was a fraud.
