Fucking Dublin publican! Have we fallen that far?!
-
Skirge goes National, and with the obligatory typo! You tell 'em Skirge!
-
I think the most likely source is Seymour Pierce because the BBC story contains both sides of the equation, Shepherd's bid and the likelihood that Ashley will accept. The brokers are the only ones who would know both parties positions.
-
Good point. Do we really want the alternative if they're trying to get the club for less than 60% of the asking price? On the other hand that might be all Shepherd's group has. I'd be more worried if anyone paid anywhere near the asking price for the simple reason that they don't have to. Ashley has created a fire sale and it's his own money he's burning. Fucking idiot! Ashley not you.
-
To describe Ashley as "shitty" is massively understating his effect on NUFC. It's like saying Bernie Madoff was a small time con man.
-
very fair point. What are Shepherd's motives here? He wants the club to move forward and yes he probably wants to be the geordie hero he always saw himself as. From my perspective those motives are a lot more psoitive and sincere than what we've experienced in the last 2 years Perhaps Freddie is hoping to rush through a deal so that his first act as chairman can be to re-sign Michael Owen, his first trophy signing of the new era. Not even Freddy would be that stupid. The comment was tongue in cheek and aimed at Ronaldo.

Wonder if Freddie will make a late bid to extend Michael Owen's contract very fair point. What are Shepherd's motives here? Ridsdale wasn't lucky enough to get a fuckwit like Ashley to dig him out of the s****. That bout of pneumonia could be the best thing that ever happened to Fat Freddie. Leeds had to go into administration and had two relegations after Ridsdale went because their new owners/boards etc weren't capable of getting them out of the downward spiral Ridsdale was sending them down. Do you think if Ridsdale offered to take them over again their fans would all of a sudden start welcoming back with open arms like some people on here are, just because once upon a time he spent big, got them into Europe regularly, etc. I'll leave Leazes or HTL to answer that.

Didn't know he was banned, but get him back on he might give us the inside track.

£60 million sounds about right. Ashley has been burning money like he just don't care, the fucking idiot.

Nothing from any other news agency regarding this. I'll bet SSN are getting their North Eastern correspondent out of bed to chase up this story.
-
I feel like I've been in a car crash and the doctor is at my bedside telling me that I'm lucky to be alive but that he's had to chop both my legs off.
-
You're thinking well Dave.

This will force the hands of the other interested parties which should see the situation resolved sooner rather than later. On balance still not sure if this is good news or not.

If true = historic = own thread. If shite = do what you like.

Still nothing on BBC website and SSN haven't picked up on it. Was I having a nightmare or did anyone else see/hear it???
-
Where did you see/hear it? On News 24 by their sports journo.
-
Can't see any confirmation on BBC website, but it's unusual for them to publicise a rumour without it having some foundation.
-
According to BBC, and they say it's likely to be accepted according to their sources! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/8125576.stm

The BBC understands that Freddie Shepherd is preparing a £60 million offer for NUFC that is likely to be accepted according to their sources.

Did I say that? What I did say was that the players took the piss out of Hughton, that's on the record from several players and Shearer himself, and they will again in my view. Are you saying that Shearer didn't have, and wouldn't have, a positive affect on player's attitudes and professionalism??? If you are, then you're a bigger idiot than I thought were. Those last 8 games were as bad as the 8 before them. That last 45 mins is the most gutless performance I've seen from ANY NUFC side in the last 30+ years. And Shearer would have taken action against the vast majority of that squad by getting rid of the gutless, overpaid pisstakers, but he hasn't been given the chance. You imply in your posts that you don't rate Shearer as a manager and the failure to preserve our Premier League status was ultimately down to him. If that's the case I think it puts you in a minority of 1.

Hughton can say what he likes, but the fact is that without a manager in place the players will take the piss, just like they did before Shearer arrived last season. For every day that Hughton is in charge the chances of us having a good season diminish.
