  1. For most Championship clubs that would be true. Most of them don't have a massive stadium, massive fan base and state of the art facilities. Fancy a side bet on the eventual selling price? Only if we include the debt in the price Like I said 100m with Ashley's loan removed is an acceptable price IMO. But obviously nobody's going to pay 100m and 100m+ loan to Ashley. I'd love to hear the actual basis for your valuation? Walk me through the numbers? Based on a decreased revenue from £100m to £55m and a Premiership valuation of between £200m to £250m and the fact he's not going to accept much less then £100m for a club he's effectively paid nearly £250m for. The fact that four consortiums are interested at £100 million means in itself that the club hasn't been overvalued. As with all assets, the price depends on the level of demand and the perceived resale value down the line. All highly artificial. The £100 million asking price hasn't scared potential purchasers off if that's what you mean, but you can't conclude from that that the club hasn't been overvalued. As with all sales, the correct value is the price that the market is willing to pay and I think that Ashley will be very lucky to get his asking price in the current circumstances. There are two possible scenarios: 1) The potential new owners will pull out all of the stops to get us into the Premiership at the first attempt, so time is of the essence and they may be prepared to do the deal quickly and pay the asking price or close to it. 2) The potential new owners have a medium to long term plan for the club and are prepared to play a waiting game and, potentially, write off the coming season in order to drive the price down. I think option 2 is more likely at the moment because of Ashley's inept management in allowing the club to drift rudderless towards the new season.
  2. Does anyone really believe the completion of this sale is going to go smoothly, with a prospective buyer stumping up Ashley's £100 million asking price??? I just can't see it happening, and fully expect the saga to drag on whilst Ashley digs his heals in, in the full knowledge that it's a buyers market, and bearing in mind the way he's boxed himself into a corner by leaving the club in limbo for the past month.
  3. Any compensation that Keegan gets will ultimately come out of Ashley's pocket, so what's your problem??? hows that. any case for wrongful dismissal will come against nufc ltd as opposed to mike ashley. Ashley owns the club at the moment and, if he manages to sell before Keegan's claim is finalised, any future purchaser would factor into the price paid the potential cost of Keegan's compensation, therefore Ashley will pay Keegan's compensation out of his own pocket. Simples.
  4. Any compensation that Keegan gets will ultimately come out of Ashley's pocket, so what's your problem???
  5. If KK left without provocation, then why did no half decent manager want to take his place at NUFC? On the other hand, why hasn't there been a queue of clubs saying, "Here you go Kev, it's all yours"? Because a lot of people in football fall for the oft peddled myth that he's a quitter rather than a man of principle. Given the present circumstances my money would be on Southampton returning to the Premiership before we do; he gets teams promoted. At this point in time, and if they get Keegan, that'd be a good bet. I just can't understand why any NUFC fan can be negative towards Keegan.
  6. An excellent post quayside, and I hope it is read, and understood, by the 25% or so who have voted that they want Shepherd back running the club.
  7. Agree with all of that. But, after admin the club could be bought for peanuts.....You see my thinking? Not really. The only people who can put the club into administration are the creditors or the directors of the company, both of those bases are covered by Ashley. So he's the only one who can elect for administration and I don't know why he would. There is still the costs concerning running of the club (roughly 20m every 3 months) and monies owed on transfers £5m on Colo alone. It's complex but with MA refusing to put more money in.......I can only see him dropping the asking price to say 50m in the coming weeks. If I was a prospective buyer I hold all the cards and would wait it out. I'm no expert and just thinking aloud. I agree that prospective buyers hold all the aces, and they will probably make Ashley sweat for a while yet in order to get the price down, but administration is not going to happen imo.
  8. The quote in bold is yet another example of HTL's selective memory to suit his own agenda where he fails to remind us that Freddie Shepherd massively undermined SBR when he made it public in the summer of 2004 that 2004/05 would be Bobby's last season as manager at the club, and bearing in mind the "characters" we had at the club at that time the implications of Shepherd's decision were always going to be dyer, sorry dire. Chapter 20 of SBR's autobiography is entitled "Undermined" just to underline the point. IMO this is the most damning single example of Freddie Shepherd's mismanagement of the club, the fact is that we have never recovered from that decision, and is a major reason why I never want Shepherd in a position of authority at the club again.
  9. If Ashley could sell it for around £50m (and he could, easily) why would he let it go for something measly like 5p in the pound. End of thread.
  10. I understood what you meant, and you were right. The rags plucking a figure out of the air. Although HTL is beginning to sound a bit like NE5, I am with him on the Shepherd thing. I think that it is virtually guaranteed that Shepherd will find money to buy some decent players, something that could be seriously in doubt with other owners. Fwiw, I can't stand Shepherd. Which is exactly my point. Not that I know the bloke but I don't think I'd like Fred much if I did, that's just an impression 'cos he does talk some rubbish. This doesn't stop me from thinking his ambition for the club is genuine, he wants the club to do well despite the mistakes that have been made. Someone who will have a go is miles better than Ashley and his crew of amateur market traders. So, it seems obvious to me that the safest bet right now is Fred. If the money is there it'll be made available for the manager and we really do need to get back at the first time of asking. I can't repeat that enough. It will only become more difficult if we don't do it the first time around. This is far more important than anyone's negative prejudices against Fred because he reckons Geordie women are dogs, something which even a mackem shirt-lifter knows isn't true anyway. That is the least of a whole host of reasons why most fans would not want FFS back running the club and you know it.
  11. I don't think anyone is supporting Ashley HTL, that's just your pathetic attempt at trying to justify your support of Shepherd.
  12. Here's an explanation for you, and it includes why Habib Beye doesn't get called a cunt and won't get called a cunt. If someone has given everything they have for the club, been a true pro at all times and genuinely cares that we've gone down they'll be well received by the fans. If they didn't seem to give a fuck, feigned injury so they didn't have to play in Stoke, missed a number of chances that could have kept us up and didn't seem particularly fucked that we went down, they'll probably get called a cunt whatever they say in hindsight. Those reasons are Oba-specialised, but they can be adapted to fit the vast majority of the team. It was patently obvious that Oba was seriously struggling with a hernia problem before and after Stoke to be fair. He was probably only able to play at about 80% of his capability in our run in, and there's no doubt that if he was fully fit and motivated he would score plenty in the Championship. The question is can we afford to keep him, and the answer will depend on if and when we get a new owner and manager and what their thoughts are. If Shearer eventually gets the job I think Oba will be shown the door.
  13. Proof read your post.

  15. http://pplots.entegros.net/_CLIENTDATA/UserProfilePictures/smacca.jpg Stephen McMahon, Product Manager Football Taken from the Profitable Group website, I don't think it's him, and if it is it must be 25 years out of date.
  16. Don't bother, it's not like we've been strung along for days about it. As a wind-up (if it is one) it's only succeeded in making the media look stupid, nobody else. What about the lads who were creaming their pants, a little prematurely again, at the prospect?
  17. It seems that 25% of people on here have got Alzheimer's if they have already forgotten what Shepherd did to this club and actually want the fucker back.
  18. How about huge worldwide publicity for your company that costs you nothing.
  19. Can't wait to see what speculation they come up with today, because no one that matters at the club is going tell them. Isn't there a quote somewhere saying that business shouldn't be done through the media?
  20. "The value of shares can go down as well as up". Caveat emptor! I've no sympathy for the investors in Sports Direct, they should have done their homework.
  21. 1st of July 2009: NUFC still owned by Ashley, no definite interest on the horizon. A number of our most saleable playing assets flogged, no replacements bought. Still no manager. What's left of the playing staff assemble for pre match training and are greeted by Chris Hughton. That's as bad as it could get, and the way things are going, it probably will happen. Total meltdown should be one of the options.
  22. If Ashley sells any of our playing assets does that mean that the £100 million asking price for the club drops accordingly?
  23. explain how this will happen? Seeing that Ashley is the sole owner he is hardly likely to put the club into administration. Ashley does not own NUFC, a holding company owns NUFC. Ashley is a debtor to the tune of £100m. If the bank refuse to bankrole the wages and NUFC holdings is bankrupt the club would enter administration. In such a case the administrators would seek to settle any debtors, in this case Ashley, through a sale of the club. Before entering administration the holding company must make every effort to sell the club hence announcing an asking price of £100m. Ashley would get some or even all of his £100m debt back in one lump sum, effectively writing off the £130m purchase price. We would be deducted points and most probably be playing Leeds Utd the following season. Dont think this is possible? lets see. That makes no sense because going into administration would massively devalue the club, and Ashley would lose significantly more money than he will if he manages to sell the club as a going concern. Thinking about it, very little of what Ashley has done so far makes any sense so I'm not say that it categorically won't happen. What an utter fuck wit Ashley is, it seems that all his decisions are being taken to destroy the club and lose him as much cash as possible.
  24. What Ashley's doing to us is like putting your house up for sale and then setting about it with a sledgehammer. It's now not a question of Ashley's business acumen, it's a question of the man's sanity.
  25. The laughing stock just went to another dimension.
