This is totally correct - the 92/93 side would easily destroy this lot. I would be surprised if they failed to score at least 3 times without reply. Sellars created far more danger than Jonas EVER will, and as for scoring goals, Rob Lee would make him look like an amateur. Kelly, Peacock and Andy Cole would have had a field day against the current side's defence..... Nolan this season will outscore Lee from that season. Who played LW most of that season anyway? Didn't sign Sellars until later on. Can't think. IF Nolan outscores Lee from that season(and its a big if), it will be because of 2 things ; 1.The current league is crap compared to the 92/93 League 2. Nolan has been in the side since AUGUST - Lee didn't join the club until late October 92. You are surely not trying to put Nolan in the same category as Lee are you ? If so, then either your memory is very short, or you can tell the rest of us what it is you are drinking - must be a new brew and very strong....! As for the wing, we had Sheedy on the left and Franz Carr on the right for most of the early games and even Carr was more effective than Jonas.. Sheedy was at the end of his career, which is why KK signed Sellars. Course I'm not, just picking up on the goalscoring midfielder comment. And I completely disagree on the Championship being weaker than Division One back then. You are entitled to your opinion but I disagree - the last 15 years have led to the syndrome of the cream rising to the top even MORE than it did back then because the Prem has become more powerful and wealthy ; there are NO good teams in this years' Championship and that INCLUDES NUFC. If any of the CCC sides currently in the promotion positions go up, they will be relegated unless they have massive surgery to their sides and most can't afford it. Back in 93, KK added just a couple of players to his promotion side and finished 3rd ; I say again, they were STREETS ahead of this or any other CCC side today . We've seen with our own eyes how poor the "Championship" is. We are leading at the moment and we are shite, that in itself tells you the quality of this division.

top post! Why, cos he agrees with you? Jonas has said he prefers to play on the left wing! Can anyone think of a player with a worse ability/goals or assists ratio in football? And taking into consideration the quality of defender he's facing, he should be ripping the arse out of this league. Very frustrating!
-
Didn't you see his miss on Saturday? He wouldn't be "superb" in any top league in the world! For the obvious skill he has, it is amazing how poor a finisher and crosser he is, and for that reason he's got to be one of the most frustrating players I've ever seen in a black and white shirt. Despite his shortcommings he is going to continue to be an integral part of our squad simply because we don't have anything better at the moment. Let's hope he finds that elusive quality that all "superb" footballers possess, composure, some time in the near future.

http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2009/10/23/chris-hughton-to-be-named-newcastle-boss-61634-24995694/2/ Hughton to be named manager before tomorrow's game! One little pearl of wisdom from our new manager to be: Meanwhile, Hughton has reminded supporters that, while the team’s recent results have been disappointing following a run of four games without a win, nobody has managed to take advantage of their slump. He added: “We are disappointed, but that is the league we are in." What the fuck does that mean??? If we had went out with attacking formations to impose ourselves on our opponenets in the last 4 games I believe we would have been at least 6 points clear now. The fact is Hughton hasn't got the balls to successfully manage a club like ours. Never has and never will!!!

It's good from the point of view we need someone in the managers chair. It's good from the point of view that it should bring some much needed stability. It's good that Hughton gets at least until the end of the season to prove himself. It's bad that the job hasn't gone to Mourinho/Hitzfeld/Sven etc etc etc but that's called being realistic. FWIW Ashleys is a sack of s***. Is that clearer for you? So Hughton gets until the end of the season to prove himself but Shearer can be written off as being **** after eight games? I am indeed having difficulty comprehending this. Now why are you bringing Shearer up? Your approach to judging the respective managers just seems really strange. One is given a full season (and pre-season to prove himself) while the other only got a handful of games. Or to put it another way one willingly stays at the club despite the uncertainty of his position while the other one f***s back off to MOTD. Our last 45 mins of football under Shearer is the most gutless performance I've seen from any Newcastle team - and I've seen us relegated 3 times. How's it Shearer's fault he has to go back to MOTD? I'm sure if Ashley offered him a contract he'd probably take it (although I'm less sure about this now) and if Ashley offered him a contract back at the start of June he'd have bitten his hands off. I don't disagree with the second bit though, although it's not really that great a reason not to give Shearer a second chance (not alone anyway). If you're going to judge Shearer on those eight games you should judge Hughton on his first eight games which were equally as bad (or at least very close to being as bad, despite being under less pressure and arguably having easier games). Hughton has apparently just been offered a managers contract, are you saying he should have f***ed off like Shearer at the end of last season? No? Hughton was under contract as a coach and took over as caretaker, Shearer had a contract for eight games which expired at the end of the season and Ashley seemingly didn't want to give him a contract. I don't see what Shearer was supposed to do? He clearly wanted the job and didn't want to run off. But he did. While Hughton stayed. Which of the two has done the most for us this season? We don't know if Shearer was offered a contract, obviously no-one knows what was going on but no paper ran with stories of 'Shearer turns down Newcastle.' It's obvious Shearer wanted to stay or he wouldn't have bothered going to any meetings with Ashley. Granted he may have wanted unreasonable demands but I think its safe to say Ashley wanted to spend nothing, why else would he put the club up for sale straight away after? Why not get another manager who'd work for half of what Shearer wanted and demand half as big a transfer kitty? And looking back over Ashley's reign I'm more inclined to believe unreasonableness from Ashley's side rather than Shearer's (and I'd say that with almost all manager's in Shearer's place). Also, I can't remember exactly (so may very well be wrong) but I don't think Hughton was ever offered a new contract, he just carried on with his coaching contract and this is why he's now negotiating a new, proper manager's contract. He's obviously done more for us this season but that's hardly Shearer's fault. See post above.

Wait, am I getting this right, the reason Shearer isn't out manager is because he (Shearer) f***ed off at the end of last season? Or do you mean he had a meeting with Ashley and laid out his plans.. that scared the s*** out of Ashley. We could debate that perhaps, were Shearer's demands excessive? Given the clubs track record with verifiable statements I wouldn't expect many to believe the tales of extravagent demands. Given the fact I've never met Ashley or implied it I'd say your post was a pile of s***. Not sure how you read that into my post, I never implied anything but especially not that you'd met Ashley. We do know Shearer and Ashley met though, and there was talk (papertalk?) afterwards that Shearers wage demands were high and/or the transfer kitty he wanted was excessive. I'm trying to understand your statement re 'Shearer fucking off at the end of the season'. It seems an extreme statement, given that, as far as we know, he wasn't even offered the job. Unless you're implying his demands effectively ruled him out of the job. Save your breath mate, there's no point trying to have a rational debate with Mr 2sheds. He's either a WUM or an idiot, and not worth the bother!
-
would you rather jfk? Don't be stupid, but Hughton is not the man to manage this club, the last 3 games have only confirmed the obvious.
-
Hughton is not a manager!!!
-
On his way to the mackems in January according to NOTW.

Didn't just walk out on him tbh, walked out on us. Should have just went public with the story then Ashley would have had to either fire him or back him. Anyone with any sense would blame Keegan as well as Ashley. The above response spells out what he should have done. I know how much I love this club, Keegan says he loves this club, I know that I would NOT have done what he did and would have done something like what is suggested above. Someone who loved the club and the city and the supporters (in his position) would do a MILLION things, would do ANYTHING . . . rather than walk out on the club and supporters so soon after he came back to 'finish unfinished business'. I know that genuinly blind and almost obsessed Keegan lovers CAN NOT accept that he is even partially to blame. They just never will, which is a shame. And it's a "shame" that you're talking absolute bollocks! I suggest you look up the word untenable and read the full ruling from last week.

I think he'll find it impossible to change his character whatever his job title. Let's hope Anal has got it wrong again.

Keegan vs Ashley and Co case settled - KK awarded 2m
jimmymag replied to Taylor Swift's topic in Football
We've now got independent 3rd party proof that the Club is owned and managed by a group of barrow boys and shysters. Their lying, conniving and wriggling has been exposed for the entire world to see. The only bright spot out of this saga for Ashley is that he only has to pay £2 million, and typical of Keegan to say that was fair and reasonable in his submission to the panel. Let's hope this is the last obstacle out of the way and we can now finally see the back of Mike Ashley and his cronies. -
SBR happy clappers man, dont let them get to you. They only remember moments under SBR which were good and forget some of the shyte that was churned out. What a crock of shit. Robson had lost the discipline of the squad, hence the introduction of the cunt Souness. Dyer etc had almost got SBR the sack with their shite attitude. SBR really neded to sell Dyer the day he refused to play and the fact he didn't did as much to undermine his position as anything. Nothing to do with FFS making it public that he wasn't going to renew Robson's contract at the end of that season then.

I don't like the fact that people on this board seem incapable of giving praise to one player without being vindictive about another. Coloccini and Jonas would both walk into a championship best Xl and showed against Palace how important they are to us. The Jury is still out on Jonas' attitude but Coloccini has demonstrated a willingness to adapt and work hard recently. I'm very, very glad that both are still here. Coloccini is an accident waiting to happen, even in this league.

Ashley isn't going to undo all of the good work by getting rid of key players at this late stage, is he?!
-
I think he's taken my advice.
-
Keegan looked well and showed he's still got a great passion for the game. Said he really liked Spurs, not surprising as 'Arry has said they may get battered but the're going to 'ave a right go this season.
-
I must admit I laughed when I read that quote from Nolan. Even Jonas' own team mates don't expect him to cross the ball. Ah I see, it's a communication problem, his team mates have never shouted for him to cross the ball before. Keep shouting lads and we'll see a new productive Jonas this season.
-
In the overall scheme of things this sounds like the best news we've had because Ashley and his advisors are happy with everything that Moat has in place and it's just down to Moat and Barclays getting an agreement regarding the overdraft. No other consortia, no other red herrings, one offer, one prospective new owner.
-
If he doesn't want to move just tell Ashley to fuck off!
-
Please dont let that be true. I heard him mention Dave Speedie in the week and my whole being screamed "Nooooooooooooooo" and hoped it must be just a coincidence and is just a namesake. Team mates at Chelsea, yes it's that David Speedie.
-
Fuck me! Did he really get two assists today?
-
i think roberts is doing this under ashleys direction, to try and bluff the other buyers. I was told today in strictest confidence what Roberts '410' plans are. And I must admit it appears to be a very weird plan and I'm not entirely certain how or if it could work. And the '410' means? Roberts is partner with David Speedie (horrible Scottish twat) and Roberts wore the number 4 shirt and Speedie number 10. Shit name, shit organisation, shit plan!
-
This is the downside of a couple of good results, In Ashley-Land everything's plain sailing from here on. Don't you think our unexpected good start to the season might have tempered Ashley's enthusiasm to sell?
-
It seems inevitable to me that if Moat buys the club Shepherd will be involved somewhere along the line.
