    Plastic Geordies

More Play-doh geordie when you look at his nose. I think he got that playing for Gillingham in the cup many years ago. Like most centre halves he was more comfortable using his heed than his feet, and tried to clear a ball in his own penalty area that was 6 inches off the ground with his heed and got a good kicking for his trouble. Still, he was a player with a massive heart and he was a huge over achiever considering his abilities. I saw lads nutmeg him, run around and nutmeg him again when he was a kid, but he was very focussed and single minded and always tried to be the best he could be. He'll make sure that there will be no passengers in the mackem squad and they'll more than just survive next season. And all this talk of him being a "plastic geordie" is total bollocks. He's just maximizing his talent, as he's always done, and not trying to upset any club, or set of fans, that might progress his career in the future. He's a very shrewd cookie making the best of what he's got, and that's to be commended.
  2. Wallsend. Hes half Irish though so should fit in well with the mackems and Quinn. Daisy Hillbilly wasnt he? Aye, Daisy Hiller, went to Benfield School. Still pops into Wallsend Buffs to have a drink with the lads when he can. He's still well liked by the lads he grew up with because he's got no airs and graces. He would have loved to have managed us, but I think it's a good move for the mackems and for him.
  3. If that was Hoddle's assessment of Cole, its a good job Martins isn't English and had been around when Hoddle was manager ; he wouldn't have merited CONSIDERATION for the England squad, let alone be left out.. Also, Hoddle had the luxury of selecting one Alan Shearer as his main striker - are you now going to try to compare Martins to Shearer as well...! I wasn't the one drawing comparisons, I was just correcting an incorrect interpretation. That said, one could argue that Martins was comparing himself to Shearer when he consciously chose the #9 jersey I was pleased when Martins wanted the #9 shirt as it showed he had confidence in his own ability, just a shame that his confidence was misplaced.
  4. There still seems to be some debate over whether Ashley is going to write off the £100 the club owes him. The club can only be worth between £80m to £100m and that's what he is asking for it, so it seems obvious to me that he must be writing off the debt. Unless he's hoping to get a buyer as naive as himself who wouldn't bother to carry out due diligence and get caught with the debt exactly as he did.
  5. I was just looking at Sports Direct's share price thinking that if I had shares in Ashley's other business I'd want to get rid based on the woeful way he's run NUFC, and was surprised to see that it's doing rather well. Sports Direct's share price has doubled since Christmas '08, they're increasing market share, and some analysts are recommending investors to add Sports Direct to their portfolio. He's obviously employed some shrewd and experienced businessmen to run that company for him so why can't he run NUFC using the same principle of employing the best people available who know the football industry? Llambias has obviously been way out of his depth as Chairman, so if I were Ashley I'd bring back Chris Mort and allow him to employ an experienced team of directors to maximise the potential of NUFC. Obviously this would mean that Ashley would have to invest more money into the club, and I appreciate that we don't know if this is possible due to his own personal finances, but surely, as a gambling man, this must be more preferable to him than just walking away and taking the £150 million hit.
  6. I don't think so because we don't owe any third party, such as a bank, any money. Ashley has financed the club with his own money so we're safe from administration if that's what you mean. And we are still a very viable business for someone with just a little bit more nous than Mike fucking Ashley.
  7. This is very worrying because we will probably be in limbo for most of the summer now. Shearer won't sign which leaves us rudderless again. So who's going to make decisions on squad comings and goings? My guess is that Llambias and Ashley will sell as many of our saleable assets as they can, which will leave us with the crap that no one wants and the unproven kids.
  8. I thought I had succinctly distilled where we are as a club right now. Shame that 2 "administrators" undermine it with their infantile comments instead of encouraging adult debate.
  9. Back Alan Shearer or fuck off!
  10. The club needs Alan Shearer to sign a long term contract in order to rebuild our club. If Shearer signs it'll mean that he's got the assurances he needs from Ashley that he can take this club forward. If he doesn't sign, then it'll mean that Ashley hasn't got the desire, or the funds, or both, to rebuild the club and then he's got to go.
  11. It won't soften the blow in the slightest, and there'll be a piece of you fuming about the bet if we stay up. I don't know how people can bet against their own team, I did it once, never again. if we stay up I wont give a s**** about the money, i'll be too busy enjoying the best day of my life I have £12 on Chelsea, Gers, Celtic, Barca, Arsenal and Pool, return of about £185 £10 on all the above plus West Ham, and Blackburn for a return of about £650, cant be arsed to check that one and of course £300 for us to go down which will get me a return of £530 should it happen And the prize for the biggest mercenary b****** so far goes to Ronaldo! You're a f***ing disgrace, and don't give me that bollocks that "the money will soften the blow"!!! A true supporter of NUFC could never hope to profit from our relegation. it's costing me in the region of £200 to get the the Villa game tomorrow, probably to see us get relegated. Forgive me if I try to cover my own back should the worst happen £200? Are you hiring your own chauffeur driven Rolls Royce? And no I won't forgive you, or anyone else, who looks to profit from our relegation. The other lad was right, you're a fucking disgrace! And don't let too many of the lads at the game know you've backed us to go down, you might end up getting a good kicking.
  12. I think its called softening the blow That's total bollocks! If I did that I'd want to throw the winnings in the Tyne if the worst did happen.
  13. It won't soften the blow in the slightest, and there'll be a piece of you fuming about the bet if we stay up. I don't know how people can bet against their own team, I did it once, never again. if we stay up I wont give a shite about the money, i'll be too busy enjoying the best day of my life I have £12 on Chelsea, Gers, Celtic, Barca, Arsenal and Pool, return of about £185 £10 on all the above plus West Ham, and Blackburn for a return of about £650, cant be arsed to check that one and of course £300 for us to go down which will get me a return of £530 should it happen And the prize for the biggest mercenary bastard so far goes to Ronaldo! You're a fucking disgrace, and don't give me that bollocks that "the money will soften the blow"!!! A true supporter of NUFC could never hope to profit from our relegation.
  14. Hope you lose your money!! & your house tbh, fuck's sake Fucking mercenary bastard! Imo, you can't be a supporter and hope to profit from our relegation.
  15. We must have the most brittle strike force in Premiership history in Owen, Oba, Viduka, and Ameobi who have all been injured for most of this season, and if you throw in Carroll's recent injury it just couldn't get any worse.
  16. To be fair to Oba, he's been struggling with this groin/hernia problem for most of this season. He's also been struggling due to his lack of a brain and the required ability needed to be a top level striker. So what's your conclusion then, he's not good enough for us???
  17. To be fair to Oba, he's been struggling with this groin/hernia problem for most of this season.
  18. I agree. I concur with the agreement. Strikes me as an act of self interest above the team needs tbh. Reporters ask questions, he answers them. If he refuses to comment, people will think he's hiding away and wants away. If he lies, and then moves on in the Summer he gets accused of being someone who can't be trusted. No win situation tbh. You're the biggest apologist for our players, and their fuck ups, on here. He could, and should have said that this isn't the time to be talking about his or anyone elses future at the club.
  19. From the Times: The conspiracy theory Ferguson has admitted that he has had to make few phone calls more difficult than the one to Neil Warnock, then the manager of Sheffield United, after an under-strength United side lost 1-0 at home to West Ham United on the final day of the 2006-07 season, a result that helped to send the Blades down. But there have been suggestions that he will relish the chance to make a similar call to Alan Shearer, the Newcastle caretaker-manager, who twice turned down the chance to join Ferguson’s team. All this shit is winding me up, I'm going to be in a right state come Sunday.

    Jonas Gutierrez

That is the crucial point. This is a Club like no other because the pressure on the player's, especially when we are doing badly, gets so great that their confidence just ebbs away. It's a combination of how passionate, impatient and unrealistic we are as fans. We can't help it, we're Geordies. That's one of the main reasons why I think it's imperative that Shearer is our manager next season, because he understands our psyche, and he understands that only certain types of characters will thrive here, and I trust him to go out and get them.
  21. Just read in another thread the Ferguson is considering playing his 4th choice goalkeeper, Ben Amos. Fucking Twat!
  22. It hasn't happened yet. Keep the faith.
  23. And you've got us down as a 9/10, and as a betting man I'd assume that means you've been down to see your local bookmaker and availed yourself of, what you consider, to be a value bet.
  24. That's the worst part of this whole scenario for me, that we are relying on Ferguson to do us a favour. I get the impression that he really dislikes us, but I still expect the Mancs to beat Hull.
